Powerball. What could you do with a 425 million dollar lottery win?

Re: Powerball. What could you do with a 425 million dollar lottery win

I'd also fill in some holes in my comic book collection. That would be fun.

I'm sorry, what's that about filling holes? I guess winning the lottery would enable one to, erm, fill... more... holes. Or at least make it a lot easier.

Re: Powerball. What could you do with a 425 million dollar lottery win

My inner geek says: Find some worthwhile but struggling fanfilm and give them a couple of million or so, my inner egotist says "Fuck 'em film my on fanfilm epic "

This, absolutely: I'd build a career in moviemaking. And while I'd certainly consider going to film school, for the networking/social benefits if nothing else, I'd also start personal, self-funded projects right away. I'd love to make a Bond, Indy-like or Superman fan film staring myself... and, being 5'9 plus change, I'd fill the rest of the cast with actors/friends 5'5 and below.

Like everyone else, I'd pay off my+family+friends' debts. And I'd make a generous donation to my old boarding school, and hire a personal cook and fitness trainer. I'd purchase/restore the Harding Theater in my hometown San Francisco neighborhood.

I'd like to make a documentary about the Electoral College presented as a Guy Noir/Sin City-like detective tale. Eventually, I might get into co-financing pet projects: a Seven-Per-Cent Solution re-adaptation, a His Dark Materials TV series, a Prydain Chronicles film series... the possibilities are endless...

... And I'd do it all with a large dog or two at my side. :bolian:

My first reaction would be megalomaniacal laughter

If I were to win, I guess I don't have too many people I'd like to crush.

Before I claimed the prize, I'd get a lawyer, a financial advisor and an accountant lined up. Once I claimed the prize, knowing full well that my state makes lottery winners a matter of public record (DOH!), I'd get it over with with the press and then just relax for a couple of weeks.

Then, the fun begins.

1. I'd hire help for my mom so my dad and I could have a little bit of a break without worrying.
2. I'd select my charitable organizations and give to them, including my own schools and my nieces' preschool (a non-profit).
3. My family would want for nothing and I'd see to it we were completely secure. Even with the annuity, that's completely doable.
4. I'd then get myself a new wardrobe of reasonable clothes (I love my 5-dollar Hanes Her Way sweats!) and new shoes (I have to have a certain type of sneaker).
5. I'd also treat myself to a spa day without anyone else with me and maybe take a few days at a hotel by myself. Two of those days would be devoted to sleeping and vegging like I haven't in some time.
6. Having few enemies to crush, the ones I do would find that vengence would be swift and reasonable. And I think that's it.

Well I won't be a millionaire tomorrow. For some reason NY stops selling tickets at 9pm, how stupid is that…

Re: Powerball. What could you do with a 425 million dollar lottery win

ANYTHING I want. And I'm definitely not going to work. I don't understand why people say they'd go back to their job.

I wouldn't stay in the same job.

One of the things I would do would be to go back to school full time and get a master's degree (or even a PhD someday) in something I REALLY like, not something I just find pragmatic to get a job easily. I would then be in a position where I wouldn't have to "settle" for anything less than a truly desirable job. (Assuming any period of unemployment following school, I would do volunteer work to fill my time.)

I would also make sure my parents had retirement/care funds set up so that they would never have to worry. Same for me--I'd also portion out a certain amount of money as a retirement fund.

I would also give a significant amount to my church. The other part of my charitable donation would go to my local literacy organizations. I think one of the best things you can do for a person is to make sure they can read, write, and do math at the level needed to get a good job and also make wise purchases and not get ripped off by those who prey on the illiterate or those who do not have adequate literacy.

I would buy a new car, a new house, give a lot of it to charity, and use the rest to somehow end the NHL Lockout. I need my Hockey Fix dammit.

Re: Powerball. What could you do with a 425 million dollar lottery win

Well looks like there is 2 winners of the 575 million dollar jackpot. One in Arizona and one in Missouri, not to say a whole factory didn't win, just 2 winning tickets.

Re: Powerball. What could you do with a 425 million dollar lottery win

I hope one of the tickets was bought by an 18 yr old kid. Would just love to read about the batshit insane stuff they do.

Re: Powerball. What could you do with a 425 million dollar lottery win

I won $4. I don't expect my life to change too much.

Re: Powerball. What could you do with a 425 million dollar lottery win

^Not unless Murphy decides to let the Butterfly Effect kick in.

Re: Powerball. What could you do with a 425 million dollar lottery win

I got 2 numbers plus the power ball, I'm at work right now and will be back all next week too. :(
