Some Power Ranger Samurai news. A team up with Power Ranger's RPM?

http://www.cynopsis.com/editions/kids/092711/

Marvista Entertainment
and Saban Brands will debut three new Power Rangers Samurai TV specials (2x30, 1x60), based on the new TV series of the same name. Featuring the Samurai Rangers, the new specials include:

  • Christmas Together, Friends Forever - the Rangers reflect on their first year together as a team and learn about the spirit of the season.
  • Party Monsters - a scare-fest when the creepiest monsters from beyond get together for party and trade stories about their battles with the Rangers.

  • The Clash of the Red Rangers - a crossover special where the Samurai Rangers team with the mysterious RPM Rangers Red fend off the dual threat from Master Xandred's Mooger army and robotic super-villain from the RPM Ranger's dimension. When something goes awry, the two Red Rangers turn on one another and the fate of the world hangs in the balance. (And I'm not telling you what happens ... mostly because I don't know).

Tokumei Sentai Gobusters

"Gobusters"

Say it a few times and you'll get the idea what the theme is.

If you can't it's "Ghostbusters"

The theme is Ghosts

Some Power Ranger Samurai news. A team up with Power Ranger's RPM?

I was hoping Saban would bring the teamups back. :techman:
robotic super-villain from the RPM Ranger's dimension.

If this is accurate, then it seems Saban is going for the "alternate universe" explanation for RPM. That's what I always just assumed anyway. It makes much more sense than trying to convincingly cram RPM somewhere in the established timeline.

Tokumei Sentai Gobusters

How do you say "Who ya gonna call?" in Japanese? ;)

It will be nice to see the RPM cast again, but the writing just won't be on the same level.

So now Power Rangers is officially a multiverse, eh? I wonder which universe the previous shows belong to. Or do RPM and Samurai both branch off from what came before? Where's the point of divergence? Well, it's a safe bet that RPM is in a separate future from SPD and probably Time Force, what with most of humanity being wiped out and all.

New episode today, but annoyingly, the network ran it in the wrong aspect ratio so everything was squished left-to-right. The backstory of Dekker and Dayu is starting to come out now. And seeing Bulk as a samurai in his dream was cool.

By the way, Eka Darville, who was Red Ranger Scott in RPM, is now a cast member of Terra Nova on FOX (or at least was a guest in the pilot).

A note about this RPM/Samurai team-up: right now, we don't know how many (if any) of the RPM cast actually are/were/will be involved in the team-up; it is entirely possible that one or more (if not all) of the RPM Rangers' appearances in the episode will be handled by voice and suit actors/doubles, similar to what happened with S.P.D.'s Wormhole.

I'm not worried about that nearly as much as I am about whether or not Tzachor's 'PR must be Sentai-lite' mentality will have a negative effect on the characterizations of the RPM Rangers and what we know about them and their world.

It is interesting to note, though, that the description for the team-up effectively settles the confusion about whether or not RPM took place in its own independent corner of the PRU as was intended to be the case by original showrunner Eddie Guzelian.

So we get the resolution of the Deker arc this week, it seems. A pretty effective finale, though it seems a bit anticlimactic. I wonder if this is really the end of it, especially given what's been established about Dayu.

And it looks like Nickelodeon is finally showing the pilot episode of Power Rangers Samurai over the next two weekends, billing it as a special with the subtitle "Origins." I've never understood why they delayed showing the pilot, but at least we finally get to see it.
