Power Rangers

Also Saban or Nick have planned to extend this season so that it runs for two years.

The first 20 episodes are to test the waters and see if Power Ranger's on Nick is a viable source of income/ratings.

If it does well another 20 episodes will be ordered

Totaling to a 40 episode series with 9 episodes cut out of Samurai Sentai Shinkenger's 49 episodes.

No doubt they'll do this to Goseiger aswell

I thought i'd just give an update on both fronts

First Power Rangers: Samurai Promo to air in February on Nickelodeon

Second

Sentai's 2011 series to start in February. It's an anniversary season.

The first picture of 2011's Sentai Team(Power Ranger's 2013)

Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger

wwwdotuporg1279916.jpg

And the info:

-200 Sentai Heroes are mentioned

-Mobairetsu and RangerKeys were correct! Meaning AkaRed plays a role in this show. Mobairetsu is their phone, RangerKeys are inserted to transform them into past Senshi.

-Weapons are the Go-KaiKen and Go-KaiGun

-Robo is Go-KaiOh, Red's machine is Go-KaiGalleon

The suits are absolutely fantastic. It may just be me, but they look like a mix between the Goseiger Suits and the Shinkenger Suits, as well as others.

Clarified information and then some

New Program, "Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger" February 13th, 2011 Start on TV-Asahi, Nationwide!

The 35th Super Sentai Series, the likes of which have never been seen before in history. Their name, "Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger."

POINT 1- Goukai! Soukai! Tsuukai! (Heroic! Exhilarating! Thrilling!) The motif of this year's heroes is "Pirates". This motif overflows in from both its popularity in anime, cinema and other types of entertainment.

POINT 2- Super Sentai Series 35th Work. A Memoiral Year. 34 Sentai Series and 200 past heroes are used in this work. Both parents and children alike can enjoy it.

POINT 3- Transformation items are the "Ranger Keys", keys which have the likenesses of past Sentai Heroes, and the Mobile Phone, "Mobairetsu". Using the keys, the Goukaiger can turn into past sentai heroes and fight their enemies.

POINT 4- Their sword is the GoukaiKen, their gun, the GoukaiGun, which creates both an enchanting and violent Pirate Action.

POINT 5- Red's machine, GoukaiGalleon, unites with "vehicles favorited by boys" to form the gattai robo, GoukaiOh.

looking forward to PR Samurai and Goukaiger. Goukaiger looks like it could be a lot of fun.

How can a Sentai team be pirates??? Pirates are bad guys!

Although I guess if the "Zords" were based on sailing ships, that would be a change of pace from the usual cycle of animals, cars, and animal-cars.

And they can turn into past Sentai heroes? I.e. recycle costumes from old seasons? I guess that's the anniversary theme... but it also kind of fits the pirate theme, in the sense that they're "stealing" others' identities.

As for Samurai, are they bringing back the old MMPR theme (which I never much liked), or is that just for the promo?

The pirates theme was primarily chosen for the rise in popularity(One Piece, POTC)

GoukaiGalleon (Pirate Ship, Red), Airplane, A Car, Submarine, Trailer.

Future mechs will have relations to other sentai, such as Wizards, Detectives, Samurai and beyond.

What it sounds like to me is auxiliary mecha will be designed to pay homage to different themes

There could be dino aux headders, ninja headders etc etc.

The headder concept is basically smaller auxiliary mecha/toys that attach to points on the robo

The current series Goseiger started the concept

Here is how they're used for toys. Goseiger had three sets representing Sky, land and sea

GoseiGreat for this year's series which will end in February

RUMOR

The Goukaiger robo will wear different headders for attacks

The Power Ranger theme in the Samurai promo was purely for nostalic reasons

using past Sentai teams in Goukaiger might make the PR adaption a bit tricky.

So far besides a ranger key(Vul eagle) nothing from pre 2000 yet

Toy listing from Dukemon22

GoukaiOh:
Releases- 2/11/11
Price- 6,500 yen
Info-

The Goukaiger's robot formed from the:
GoukaiGalleon- Red's 3-sailed galleon. Adhered to the bow are two sabres. Also, there are "Spaceship-like" Boosters at the back. GoukaiGalleon forms the head and body of Goukai Oh.

GoukaiJet- Blue's jet. Where GoukaiOh's hand is, there is a round barrel. GoukaiOh's hat is tucked behind the wings. Forms GoukaiOh's right arm and hat.

GoukaiFormula (?)- Green's racecar. A square barrel is on the fist, versus Blue's round one. This is the car's bumper.

GoukaiMarine- Pink's submarine (colored white w/pink accents). The tip of the submarine forms an ankle, but the upper part of the back is the knee. The location for its "cap" is a treasure chest.

GoukaiTrailer- Yellow's tractor trailer (cab part). Similar to pink, cap is also a treasure chest.

As stated before, GoukaiOh can enter a finishing mode, where cannons protrude from the different "caps". Galleon's bow opens up completely, with the 3-sails becoming armor. The other's (barrels and treasure chests) open up to reveal their cannons.

GoukaiMachine Series 01 MagiDragon:
Releases- February
Price- 2,500 yen
Info-

Combines with GoukaiOh to form MagiGoukaiOh, in which the cannons are removed from the cap-ports, and MagiDragon is installed, adding a dragon head to GoukaiOh's chest, wings to the shoulders and dragon-claws to the feet.

GoukaiMachine Series 02 PatStriker:
Releases- March
Price- 3,000 yen
Info-

Combines with GoukaiOh to form DekaGoukaiOh, installing tires in the "Vulcan Ports". GoukaiOh is armed with Dual-Guns made from the PatStriker parts.

GoukaiMachine Series 03 GaoLion:
Releases- April
Price- 4,500 yen
Info-

Eyes light up, and a voice gimmick is installed. Combines with GoukaiOh to form GaoGoukaiOh. GoukaiOh's Legs are removed (not sure where they are stored) and GoukaiOh uses GaoLion as its "legs" in a Centaur Mode (similar to GaoKentaurus.)

GaoLion's alternate combination with GoukaiOh is interesting, because it doesn't seem to be a Gaoranger combination at all. The sillouhetted human-type robo combo seems to actually be a Shinkenger mode! GaoLion's head is on the chest, and the helmet has two-points, similar to ShinkenOh or SamuraiHaOh. The open Vulcan ports have the Shinkenger kanji on them, two "Ka" on the chest, "Sui" and "Ki" on both shoulders, and "Ten" and "Do" on the legs. The form itself resembles SamuraiHaOh, at least in sillouhette.

Henshin Keitai Mobirates:
Releases- 2/11
Price- 4,500 yen
Info-

A folding type cell phone henshin device. The upper portion it transformed into the "GoukaiMark" and light is emitted. On the lower button is a place for RangerKey insertion. More than 190 kinds of sounds are possible, with the device able to recognize 200 types of RangerKeys. Comes with GoukaiRed, Go-OnRed and ShinkenRed keys.

GoukaiGun:
Releases- February
Price-
Info-

The Rangers' gun sidearm. When pushes the trigger, an upper part of the gun appears for key insertion. The Keys seem to be used to activate a finishing move.

Comes with GoukaiBlue's Ranger Key.

GoukaiSabre (?):
Releases in- February
Price-
Info-

The Rangers' sword sidearm. Able to utilize the Ranger Keys. The GoukaiMark on the guard emits 7-colored lights. Official press material has called this the GoukaiKen. It unsure, at this time, what names they are going with. Sabre is obviously a bit more pirate-y.

Comes with GoukaiYellow's RangerKey.

GoukaiBuckle:
Releases in- February
Price-
Info-

Can store one ranger key in the belt buckle (in essence, similar to Shinkenger's belt buckles).

Comes with GoukaiGreen and GoukaiPink's Ranger Keys.

Ranger Key Set 01:
Releases in-
Price-
Info-

Ranger Keys included are GaoRed, VulEagle, MagiRed, GekiRed, and another. (Probably ChangeDragon, going from previous info)

Legend Sentai Items Set:
Releases in-
Price-
Info-

Scaled down versions of past Sentai arsenal. Included is the MagiPhone (12 sounds), ShinkenMaru, Mobirates, and another item. A MagiRed key is included.

Joint Gattai Series:

Scaled down versions of Past Sentai mecha. Utilizing the Mugenbine joints, each set runs you 3,000 yen. Releases include GaoKing (splits into the 5 power animals), EnjinOh (splits into the 3 Enjin, and looks able to form G12), MagiKing and DekarangerRobo.

RangerKeys:

SD-type ranger figures, sort of lego like. Transforms into a key by raising both arms, and then raising the lower half of the body forward from the back. The key part is made from a resin looking material, colored grey. When inserted into the Mobirates a "click" sounds.

Samurai is only the 18th Power Rangers season right? We shouldn't expect another reunion/crossover until the 20th I reckon, yes? Or do they go with the Sentai anniversaries?
The only crossover that I remember very well was Forever Red, it was the 10th PR Anniversary and 25th Sentai.

^ They could always adapt Goseiger for the 19th season of Power Rangers, leaving the Kaizoku season for the Anniversary season of Power Rangers.

Which is how things are shaping up right now.

Power Ranger Samurai 1-20

If successful in the spring 20 more episodes will be ordered

2012-Goseiger adaption hopefully will follow the same pattern

Fall 2013- 20th anniversary.

I just having a feeling Bandai of America will screw up the toy line since the Samurai line looks atrocious.

I think they'd probably go by number of years, not number of seasons.

Actually there's usually a crossover with the previous year's team on an annual basis, reflecting a Sentai tradition. Though I doubt that will happen on Samurai, since RPM was not only from different producers but was set in the future.

Yeah they started that with Lost in Space I think. However they also had the big reunions every 5 years. I was thinking about the next big reunion.

No, I believe the first time Power Rangers used footage from a Sentai crossover (a tradition that had been around before PR existed) was in Power Rangers Zeo, when the "Alien Rangers" (based on Kakuranger costumes and footage) returned for a guest appearance. But if you're referring to Lost Galaxy, that was the first season that started with a whole new Ranger team from scratch rather than having a continuing cast from the previous season and just changing their costumes. So it was the first time they could really incorporate the footage from a Sentai crossover and use it the same way, as a meeting of the current and previous Ranger teams.

Yeah I think you are right.

After Zeo finished I sort of lost the series until Time Force.

The first official crossover episode in the PRU was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 3's "A Friend in Need", which was a crossover with the yet-to-be-launched Masked Rider, Saban's 'Americanized' version of Kamen Rider.

The full list of PRU crossover eps is as follows:
"A Friend in Need" (Parts 1-3) [Mighty Morphin Power Rangers]
"Rangers of Two Worlds" (Parts 1-2) [Power Rangers Zeo]
"Shell Shocked" [Power Rangers in Space]
"Always a Chance" [Power Rangers in Space]
True Blue to the Rescue" [Power Rangers in Space]
"To the Tenth Power" [Power Rangers Lost Galaxy]
"The Power of Pink" [Power Rangers Lost Galaxy]
"Trakeena's Revenge" (Parts 1-2) [Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue]
"Time for Lightspeed" [Power Rangers Time Force]
"Reinforcements from the Future" (Parts 1-2) [Power Rangers Wild Force]
"Forever Red" [Power Rangers Wild Force]
"Thunder Storm" (Parts 1-2) [Power Rangers Dino Thunder]
"History" [Power Rangers S.P.D.]
"Wormhole" [Power Rangers S.P.D.]
"Once a Ranger" (Parts 1-2) [Power Rangers Operation Overdrive]

"True Blue to the Rescue" started the trend/tradition of the current team of Rangers teaming up with their immediate predecessors (either in part or in full), while "Always a Chance" started the trend/tradition of the current team of Rangers teaming up with Rangers who were not their immediate predecessors (a trend continued in "Forever Red" and "Once a Ranger").

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Seasons 1 and 2, Power Rangers Turbo, Power Rangers Ninja Storm, Power Rangers Mystic Force, Power Rangers Jungle Fury, and Power Rangers RPM did not feature crossover episodes of any kind.

where the hell does Power Rangers RPM fit in the rangerverse anyway?!

That's a good question. It could go sometime before SPD, if you're willing to believe Earth could be repopulated in only a decade or so (which is no more farfetched than most of the other things you have to accept in the Rangerverse). Perhaps, when Venjix took over, most of the Earth's population was evacuated with help from aliens such as the Eltare, Aquitians, KO-35 inhabitants, Mirinoi, etc. And when Venjix was defeated, they would've returned, along with many aliens they met out there, and thereby set up the SPD future.

Although with the series returning with Samurai and hopefully beyond, that'll be hard to reconcile. Maybe it's more logical to conclude that RPM takes place shortly after SPD, and all the aliens living on Earth left or were killed off when Venjix took over.

What about Time Force?
