*Potential Spoilers* What will the Alternate Enterprise-A look like

The USS Discovery has made very little impact, same goes for the show itself to be honest.

Bit of a damp squib so far, perhaps it is being covered far more in the US, practically non existent over here in blighty.
Here in Canada things have also been pretty quiet on the Discovery front. Since we get a lot of news from the US as it happens, I don't think there's been much outside of the initial announcement and one or two small updates. In fact, after the news of the delay, there hasn't been anything. I'd imagine we'll get some big announcement after the new year.

They haven't even cast the thing yet, of course there hasn't been much promotion. They need footage before they can start putting out trailers and promos.

Well that's a bit disappointing but such is the film industry!
Yes. And that's why upgrading to a 4K setup is only of any value if you are the type to appreciate the higher dynamic range. If you don't particularly care about more shadow detail, there's no real rush at this point.

Everyone (should) appreciate HDR! It's the first improvement in display technology since moving to 1920x1080. 4K is quite useful for workstations too of course.

3D came and went and we all laughed. Curved screens came and went and we all laughed (I think they're being marketed to workstations and gaming now). 360 has potential, but it's not being pushed as hard as things like 3D were - avoiding the same mistakes. I suspect that 360/vr will be the next major change, for things like sport and maybe news in any case. 360 for dramas requires a lot of editorial thought, but for sport, nature documentaries, etc, it could well stick.

Alexander Klemm has finished modeling his Enterprise 1701-A from Beyond. No textures yet, but I figured you might want to get a look at the details. This model is VERY accurate to the actual film CG model. This is what the 1701 should have looked like in 2009 in my opinion.

Looks great. Like it a lot. Only nit pick would be the underneath of secondary hull in shot 4 but

Change the interior color scheme no black floors n white walls please......

That's a great rendering of the E-A! Thanks for the heads up!

It is beautiful work - although I am simply unable to bring myself to like the design overall like I could with the TMP refit. There just were no bad angles on that ship, IMO. This one and the one that immediately preceded it? Just still doesn't do it for me...

Ever since someone here said the Nu-A's rear end (shuttle bay in relation to and including the angle of the nacelle pylons) looks like a hooker with her legs spread out and back, ready for work...kind of ruined it for me ever since...

Yeah - not loving the design for that reason. Well, maybe not for the mental imagery :p - but the pylons are awful; too thick at the bottom and connected way too close at the top. The side of them at the connection to the secondary hull makes the hull look really awkward as well. Especially with where they're connected.

That recess at the bottom is also a bit off. And the saucer angle is weird. that is a stunning render, but the source material needs a few big tweaks to capture the aura of the 2009 version, even the TMP version. Hopefully they make enough tweaks to reign it back in by ST4.

Agreed - I do want to clarify that I really love, respect and appreciate the model rendering for what it is and the skill and talent that went into its creation. I just don't especially like the design of the source material, nor do I want anyone to think I'm throwing shade on the efforts of the modeler (Klemm).
