Post Your Dreams Thread

Last night, I dreamed I was stuck on a busy railway. A large group of children were fighting each other with little regard for the danger. I kept myself out of harms way but couldn’t climb out of the cutting, and any route I could take took me to another cutting with a different line that I couldn’t get out of either.

Last night I dreamed I was riding in a car with another woman who I can't remember now, and when we passed a side street by the university I saw that one of my best friends had been in a fender bender. I got out of the car and hugged her and asked if she was hurt. She said only her leg hurt a little. Then my husband got out of bed, which woke me up.

I had a weird Brooklyn Nine Nine dream.

Basically I was with Jake and Charles, and that guy played by Chris Parnell who was the lawyer girlfriend's boss and later tried to kill Jake lured us into a weird labyrinth to psychologically torture him.

I dreamed I was in a very big model shop, buying model trains with some one else’s money. But I was being very picky, and couldn’t find anything I actually wanted.

Having been sick with the cold, I've had plenty of sleep and frequent afternoon naps lately, bringing about an assortment of bizarre dreams.

In one dream I was running at superhuman speeds like the Flash when I stopped to see a river filled with large fish, or they could have been dolphins. But then, they had scales that were either green or brown. The water was densely packed that the animals could hardly swim. I was with a group of people, and we were trying figure out a way to get them to swim upstream, whatever that direction might be, so that the creatures would end up in these watery but shallow rice paddies. I figured I was probably in my old country given the rural environment.

Ever have a dream that had you feeling completely exhausted when you woke up?

Met some friends for lunch at a mall food court, but then for some unexplainable reason I had brought my own food and needed to microwave it. And on top of that, there was suddenly a deadline for eating which was never explained, but because I had brought my own food, I inferred while in the dream that we were in school and it was lunch break... at a mall court school cafeteria.

There weren't long lines but they weren't moving either, so I kept going from one vendor to another. The only public use microwaves that I found which didn't have lines inexplicably had too much kitchen equipment in front of them which meant no one could even reach them.

Then as lunch time was almost over, I finally found a couple free microwaves, only to discover that they were both filled from top to bottom with noodles. Not someone's meal that they left unattended, but just noodles everywhere. I used my hands to pull the noodles out, but somehow that cross-contaminated the meal I was trying to microwave (I could tell it was contaminated because suddenly my lunch had pink highlights, even though I don't think the noodles were pink).

Somehow the stress of running out of time made me feel tired when I woke up. Dreams always make perfect sense while they're happening. Then afterward you realize how insane they were.

I can relate to this. While I can't remember the exact details, I've dreamed that I'm working on a project in the office, or I'm doing some kind of paperwork and get bogged down with the details. When I wake up in the middle of the night, I'm relieved to realize it was only a dream.

Me too. During a particularly stressful project I dreamed the bothersome details of a web form I was building and I worked on every line of code in the dream, only to have to do it for real the next day.

It happened again. I had a dream that I was taking a math exam and was stressing out because I didn't know what was going on, namely because I couldn't make out the gibberish words on the exam. And then I woke up exhausted.

Dreamed that I found out that my family owned a large property I had been unaware of, basically the side of a gentle hill with about six houses of various sizes and for some reason it was going to be my job to parcel out the land into properties and sell it.

Complicating the issue was that an enlargement of a road past the hill was in the works, from a plain paved lane to a major highway, and we didn’t know how much of the land it was going to take.

A strangely mundane kind of dream.

I had a broken restless sleep that produced two distinct dreams.

One, I was back in the eighties, 11 years old and my first day at high school. I wasn’t nervous because I remembered the thirty odd years still to come.

Second dream was around 2000. No wife, no kids, and I was living with a girl I knew back then. For some reason we were on an old pirate ship, on high seas battling against 10m waves. We eventually made it back to land where we were told to climb the tower of a ruined fortress to see a space ship. There was too much haze to see much, but in the distance we could just make out an At-At round the beach in the distance. We carefully climbed down and headed in to the town to join some tweedy academics in a musty old building to hear some talks about astronomy. We got separated and I found myself with an ex girlfriend who was also split from her group. So we went for a coffee at the shop down the hill. All of our friends were there already and I got caught in a conversation with a publisher and an IT consultant who both wanted me to choose between their offers.

At that point I noticed that the girl I’d arrived with was jumping off of a first floor window ledge in to the arms of a cheering crowd. She did this about three times, but on the last go, the crowd wasn’t ready and she broke her back. I woke up as an ambulance arrived.

I feel that this one means something.

The other night I dreamed I was in a large house my family and I had purchased. This was in the old country where I lived, and the property belonged to a different family and was recently renovated from the ground up. I could only see the interior, which had vast common areas and corridors.

One of my sisters and I descended down two flights of stairs that led to the outside of the house, and there was a wooden boat-shaped slide that little children used to dive into the water of a small lake that was part of the estate. My perspective shifted, and this was actually a movie I was watching starring Nicole Kidman.

The other night, I had one of those epic apocalyptic dreams that heralded the end of the world. My family and I had moved to another place with other people to escape an impending cataclysm. I realized I had forgotten to bring any clothes with me, so I had to go back home to get my precious shirts and underwear. But it wasn't my actual home. It was a two-story building in the middle of the night, and one the corners had collapsed so that the structure was lopsided. I was relieved I didn't go into the building too soon, but instead I waited until it was safe for me to get to my drawers and grab my clothes.

I had a work dream. I’d gone back to the office to 7400 emails in my inbox. My coffee mug was green with furry mold, and the phone rang. It was someone with a stupid question, and that couldn’t understand me.

I've had two recurring dream themes lately: living in a big house and fussing with my laundry/clothes.

Last night, I had a dream that my family and I moved to a new home with lots of rooms and a huge attic or storage space. My sister and I were sorting through a lot of junk trying to figure out what to keep and what to throw away. For example, there were some orange PVC pipes that were part of a holiday decoration, and we thought we should probably save them for next year.

Then I had forgotten I was doing my laundry and was worried some other family member beat me to the dryer.

According to dreammoods.com:

To dream that you are doing your laundry suggests that you are cleaning up your act or changing your image. Perhaps, you are too concerned about how you appear to others.

* * *

To see a new house in your dream indicates that you are entering into a new phase or new area in your life .........

To see a house in your dream represents your own soul and self. Specific rooms in the house indicate a specific aspect of your psyche. In general, the attic represents your intellect, the basement represents the subconscious, etc.

Two strange ones last night/this morning.

The first: Jurassic Park in suburbia. Apparently I had seen a dinosaur around the place and thought it cute. A little while later I found a towel that I would flap loudly to call it. I did so. An enormous t-rex appeared from between the houses and ran full tilt at me! I got back in the house. Being out of sight confused it. The person in the house, not SO, was confused, didn't understand what was going on. I covered her mouth and turned the light off... and we could see a huge head silhouetted in the window. She screamed, but I still had my hand over her mouth and pulled her from the room. There was more, but the dream was so stressful it woke me up.

The second was, I was part of a three man posse tracking across the western US, long before settlement, days and days. We were pursuing... Mickey Mouse. Awww, you think. How cute, you think. No. He looked like Mickey, sounded like Mickey, but his personality was grimdark scary and not funny or cute at all. Imagine Jimmy Stewart randomly knifing people and being completely indifferent about it. That kind of scary. It was weird.

Strange broken dreams again for me, but the kids were unsettled and I slept lightly.

Part of a dream took me to Romulus, but it was a cartoon CGI Romulus and the Romulans were cute animals with pointy fluffy ears.

Then I was at home, my parents home. Only my dad was there and I was trying to cook, but couldn’t find anything, and I spilled a load of cooking oil on the floor. Then the TV came on by itself and a Star Trek fan movie started, except that it was Avengers. Ironman and an alien were tearing up a city, with amaIng special affects but amateur actors. Tony Stark had a drawn on beard.

Then I was at a train station with my mother, though much younger, and a child. My child, but not in real life. We were moaning about where money was being wasted on the railway, and at the same time, trying to stop the child wandering off. I then decided that i wanted a smoke (I don’t smoke) and started looking for a kiosk, but I was stopped by a boy in his early teens who begged me not to leave him. He said he was depressed and didn’t want to be left alone, so i told him to help me find a kiosk. I bought a packet of seven cigarettes and received cyberman coins in my change and I gave them to the boy.

I woke up to a deep feeling of dread.
