Post Your Dreams Thread

Yeah Baby! That was a shaggadelic dream.

Oddly enough I have never had a naughty or suggestive dream. I've had dreams with women in them that could be romantic I suppose but I've never had a dream that I'd consider shaggadelic?

I also thought of Austin Powers reading that post.

OK, this isn't one dream, but an element that keeps recurring every couple of months. At some point in a dream I am having I'll come out of some place like a store or something and find my car has been stolen from the parking lot. The funny part is that I "remember" it being stolen in past dreams and always think "again!?!!?! why are these people always stealing my car?" It's like a continuing c-plot in a long running tv show. It's not even the same car each time, sometimes it's a nice expensive car and others it's an econobox. It's a different make of car each time. Depending on the dream I'll actually get side tracked with dealing with the police or having to find other ways to travel where ever I needed to go in the dream. One time I even rode along with the police as they recovered the car from a known chop shop.

I've never had a car stolen in real life. I do have a friend that had his car stolen out of his driveway about 20 years ago.

^ Perhaps it reflects anxiety over losing something of value?

One recurring dream I had in the past was that I was back in the old house in my home country. To me, it felt natural and I didn't even question why I was there or how I got there. One particular element that always got my attention was the old pigpen at the back of the house. I grew up in a rural area where most people raised their own livestock. So in my dream I always came across these pigs, and they looked really emaciated because they hadn't been fed a long time. I felt very sorry for these animals and made an effort to feed them and nurse them back to a healthy state.

One time I read that pigs symbolized "money." The way I interpreted the dream was that I needed to pay more attention to my finances.

I like the way your recurring serves as a running gag, @sojourner .

I have a recurring theme in dreams where I'll be in my home (either my current apartment, a place I've lived in the past, or some imagined house or apartment, and I'll discover whole new rooms -- sometimes entire wings of houses or apartments that are going unused. They may be empty and full of cobwebs, or fully furnished and clean depending on the dream. The weird thing is that in every one of these dreams, when I discover the new space it's as if I already knew about it and had forgotten; I'll find myself thinking things, "Why hadn't I been using these rooms, all this time?" or "How could I have forgotten this was here?"

^ Interesting, tsq. Your recurring dream theme and the associated feelings you get may be a reflection of rediscovering things you may have forgotten or not paid attention to over time. Have you ever looked at old photo albums and marveled, "Oh yeah! I remember this particular occasion"? Or sometimes I look at my book collection or trinkets that remind me of the time and place I purchased or acquired them.

It's certainly an odd theme, and one I've had at least a dozen times that I remember, so likely even more.

Last night I dreamt I was an investigator trying to hunt down and break up a child sex trafficking ring. It would have been all dark and gritty except there were centaurs.

I dreamt some woman was introducing me to the new trend in wine drinking. Shaving very thin but large pieces of cheese into your wine glass before drinking.

I dreamed that TrekBBS had a conference and we were in different classrooms for different topics. I was wandering around hoping to find the auditorium because Greg Cox was giving a big lecture that I wanted to hear and I also hoped to meet him. I woke up before I found the auditorium or even Jayson's monkey forum. Typical dream about school type anxiety, but at least I had clothes on.

One other recurring dream element I have about the house I grew up in is the old stereo system that played vinyl records. I remember this huge, boxy sound system (Panasonic or Radiosonic maybe, circa 1970s) with large wooden speakers on both ends. There were satellite speakers hooked up to the system as well so that my family could listen to music in front of the house. Back in the days, my dad and my oldest sister bought all kinds of LPs and 45s, with classics from the Platters, Jerry Vale, etc., to the more modern 1980s hits (at the time) by Kenny Rogers, Band Aid, etc. When I returned to the old country back in the early 1990s, the stereo had broken down and I felt sorry I couldn't play the vinyls anymore. The stereo system just sat there as a decorative piece, collecting dust, and served as a table of sorts.

In my dream, I'm still able to find the treasure trove of records, and the stereo is in perfect working condition. I believe this dream is a reflection of nostalgia and my love for music. ;)

Oh, a variation on the car theft thing last night. I dreamt the car I had in the dream was stripped of parts where I parked it. Outside a furniture store while I was shopping. Another thing odd about these car theft bits; it's never been an actual car I've owned in real life. The one in this dream was an old '90's Dodge Daytona purchased used during the dream. A car I would never buy in real life. A real beater.

I had a really complex and detailed dream in the TNG universe. It was actually a take on a typical Trek storyline: corrupt admiral uses cadets to do bidding. I'll spare the details except for this great part where there was a huge battle raging outside the Enterprise against the cadets (whose ships looked more like x wings), and for some reason Crusher and Troi were in charge of phasering them. Crusher was hesitant because Wesley was surely piloting one, and Troi was all, enough of this shit, took a hand phaser, floated out into the plasma and empty space, and started shooting the ships.
My Troi is so much better than cannon Troi.

Your Troi sounds totally badass..

I had a weird dream last night. It's interesting that I have started to take notes on the ones I remember now.

Anyway it started out with me lying in bed listening to music, as I do that sometimes because it takes for me forever to actually sleep. Anyway I am lying there and suddenly this woman pops into existence on top of me and we start talking, and its as if I have known her really well and we seem to know each other, then she rolls over next to me, kisses me on the cheek and then vanishes.

She's been in a few of my dreams. She was in the previous one I posted waving to me from the stone pool thing I described in my previous dream I posted here. I didn't put 2+2 together till last night that it was the same one. I've seen her a few times in my dreams. Slightly taller than me, long red hair, about mid 30s early 40s.

One silly recurring dream I have is regarding my tandem parking at work. In my dream, I'm always late getting to the garage at the end of the day, and so my tandem partner from another department is blocked and can't leave right away. She gets in at 7 a.m. and I get in before 8; we're both supposed to leave at the same time (4:30 p.m.).

Yesterday I dreamt that I was still in the office at 4:66 p.m. I was shocked! "Oh no! I didn't realize how late it was! Patti must've been waiting in her car forever!" My coworkers Dana and Yenny both agreed. All of a sudden, I got several voicemail notifications from Patti, calling me from the garage and asking me when I was going to come down. The time was now 4:86 p.m. "Holy shit! I'm really late." I checked my cell phone's voicemail, and I heard jazz music playing in the background. "Must be Patti." Then another message ... and another ... it was all jazz. "Crap!"

The reality is, I typically get there before Patti does, so I get out of her way 99.5% of the time. Some days she gets in late, and when I try to leave at 4:30, she's still not there.

Oh gods I got the same redhead again last night. Only this time we were walking down a trail like a forest kind of place and it had marked trails and people walking and talking, or just admiring the views. We were doing both.

I am really wondering if she is a real woman I haven't met or might meet.

I had a dream about my best friend from grad school, who passed away this past fall.

She was wearing her green tight cocktail dress (from a time we dressed up for a Halloween party, she and another woman went as "sluts,") in very pale makeup, with very red lipstick.

We were listening to another woman on the radio, and she was chomping at the bit to introduce me to the radio personality.

I said "You know I'm very VERY involved, right?"
She replied "I'm not asking you to fuck her."

Then I woke up.

This is the first dream I've had about her since she passed, and the only one I've had about her besides the one where she was sitting next to the bed while I and my now-wife were having sex and critiquing our style.

Repeat to yourself "It's just a {dream], I should really just relax"

(Information is my trade. "TMI" is a nonstarter.)

ANYway...

One of the strange but interesting things about dreams is how the mind will dredge up the smallest, briefest image from the back of your brain and build a narrative around it.

A while back I had this fairly mundane dream where I helped a very attractive woman unload groceries from her car and bring them into her house. Then we had beverages on her couch.

I recognized the woman in the dream from somewhere, but it took me MONTHS to figure out who she was and where I'd seen her.

Turns out she's Samia Shoaib, who I've only ever seen in her brief appearance in "The Sixth Sense" where she's buying a ring with Shayamalan's self-insert character.

But the reading your post at least you knew the woman in your dream. I've seen this same redhead several times and have no idea who she is only that we either had become friends or something. I get good vibes off her in my dreams and a sense of calm.

I would bet money that you've seen the redhead somewhere before, but you may not actually have any real connection, just someone that you walked past on the street or saw on TV somewhere that your brain is using as a stand-in.

But then, I'm not one of those people who believes in stuff like prophetic dreams or psychic connections causing dreams or dreams of your soulmate or whatever. YMMV.
