Post "The Light Fantastic"

I finished reading "The Light Fantastic" a while ago and would like to know if there are any plans on continuing the "Data ressurected"-storyline?

The editor, Margaret Clark, has said that Data should be used very sparingly. I'm positive we'll see him star in a book again, but it may be a little ways down the road.

No 'unlimited Data' plan for the Android, then? :D

People have been shot for less than that !

I hope appearences by Data will be regular.

I'd prefer it to be David Mack as Cold Equations trilogy was far more to my taste than the lighter in tone Mortal Coil and Light Fantastic.

^ I think Trek books need both. Too much darkness and it just gets draining.
You are probably right, but I thought Mortal Coil was O.K., loved Cold Equations a ridiculous amount and enjoyed Light Fantastic.

Cold Equations is a personal Treklit favourite.

It was really good. I am hoping as we move away from the politics that there is more of that exploration and adventure with great character growth.

I think that says quite a lot about our individual tastes - I'm pretty burned out on exploration (multiple Trek shows, hundreds of novels, especially the TOS ones) and am deeply invested in the political side of Treklit. Yes, I'm a 'Niner'. ;)

I'm looking forwards to reading the Seekers novels soon as I loved Vanguard, but with them and Voyager I've got quite enough 'Strange NewWorlds' in the schedule.

I could think up some more Eav'oq jokes... :shifty:

Please, don't go to any trouble on my account ! :)

^ I'm a Niner too. I'd love to see more Sisko and Ds9 at the center of things. I personally think that he should be made Admiral of DS9.

^I'm not sure one can be an admiral of a single space station, but I suppose he could be the admiral in charge of the sector and have DS9 as his base of operations, like how Admiral Ross was based at Starbase 375.

^ Exactly what I was thinking Chris! I feel like of all the characters of the 24th century, Sisko is uniquely qualified to be an admiral. The Dominion War arc showed him working well with Ross and being able to see the "Big Picture". Personally think this would be a perfect next step for Sisko to be over that area of space, one he is very familiar with and has good relations with the peoples around it.

^Or (and this might be verging on story ideas, so I'll put it in spoiler tags)

he could be the admiral in charge of Gamma Quadrant exploration, while based on DS9 - he could maybe even take the Robinson out there every once in a while.

Perfect idea! This would work, it would also give more of a home feel to DS9, like TNG still has to it's books. Would really feel like a continuation of the series again.

I would want yo see another author for the next book. Not certain who would be best.

Are you not a fan of DRG3, David Mack, & Una McCormack? I think they're doing a fantastic job of continuing the DS9 adventure. I'd like to see Kirsten try her hand at DS9, but she's so perfect for Voyager, that it would be a sin for her to take time away from the Full Circle Fleet. Or maybe S.D. Perry can come back around? That wouldn't be a bad thing ;)
