Post ROTJ Animated Series Announced:Lindley's Gonna Be Pissed!!!

The EU still exists even if this show comes out and doesn't mesh with it. It reminds me of the arguments and crying in about how the new Star Trek movie destroyed all the other series.

It still happened. You still watched them all, what difference does it make if something comes along and replaces it?

It just shows what a Batman nerd I am (and how very, very apathetic I am about Star Wars) that when I read the title of this thread, I seriously thought it was referring to a continuation of "Batman Beyond". When I see, "ROTJ", my first thought is "Return of the Joker".

Wow, they could probably get Mark Hamill back to voice Luke since he does a lot of VA work anyway right?

He'd probably be insulted if they didn't ask him, he was willing to do some of the games I believe.

I wonder if Carrie might do it? She did the commentaries, some of the Robot Chicken sketches... not impossible. Billy Dee Williams as well.

I love the Clone Wars (who'd of guessed :D) but it would be cool to see some of the classic stuff in CGI. B-Wings, A-Wings all underused in the movies.

Maybe they could even do Shadows as a flashback?

So long as this doesn't destroy the Thrawn Trilogy I am fine with it. I couldn't care less about the rest of the Expanded Universe.

I agree. I'd be happy to see most of the Expanded Universe overwritten, but I hope the Thrawn Trilogy will be left alone (Outbound Flight, too).

Now that you mention, adapting the Thrawn trilogy, or even the Dark Empire books into the series might be pretty interesting actually.

I'm tired of people giving Lawrence Kasdan full credit for the ESB.
Nobody gives him full credit that I am aware of. Nor does anybody give Lucas no credit. It is simply an established fact that Lucas tends to take credit, either directly or indirectly, for the hard work of others.

At least directors like Cameron, or Whedon go out of their way to point out that their works wouldn't be as great as they are without the contribution of others. You would never hear Lucas say such a thing. He honestly believes every single thing SW related his his "vision".

Most of the people who say that don't know what the fuck they're talking about. I for one am getting sick and tired of being told I'm wrong for admiring Lucas and enjoying his movies and then I get reamed for hating some piece of shit movie like Serenity. It's fucking insane!
Your opinions might be taken a bit more seriously if you didn't trash other completely unrelated and much beloved movies just to make them seem more valid.

Great news!!! THIS is what I've REALLY been waiting for. I've waded into some of the post-ROTJ EU and, although I've enjoyed it (mostly in audiobook format), it will be great to see new OT characters/stories that take place after ROTJ. I wonder what, if anything, from the existing EU they might utilize? If nothing else, I certainly hope they utilize characters like Thrawn and especially Mara Jade. I'd also like to see Luke form a "New Jedi Order" in the series as well (Yuuzhan Vong optional).

I heard it was going to be the comedy animated series they were talking about, is that true?

I was under the impression that the comedy series is something different. What we're talking about here is, I believe, a genuine post-ROTJ animated (current Clone Wars-style) series.

Even if they offered no other details at the present time, you would think that the geniuses at LucasFilm would at least clear this mattter up, as it is making a lot of fans nervous.

Really?

Who?

I slept well last night!

Do you mean it's making the EU fanboy crowd scared because their precious "Lower canon"(or whatever it's called)might/probably will be trampled on?

In the last couple weeks, a new animation series was announced by Lucasfilm. It will be a "comedy" series, helmed by Seth Green, and based on Hasbro's Galactic Heroes line of toys (which Lucas dubbed "Squishies" when he saw them).

When Sansweet indicated we'd see more Luke/Han/Leia in "the new animation" - that's the one he was referencing. Nobody knows if it'll be sketch based, like Robot Chicken, or full-length episode stories, but I'd guess the former.

I don't think that post-ROTJ continuity fans have much to worry about.

I actually love the look of those toys, they even have ships and dioramas at that scale. I'd collect them if my house wasn't already full of too many collectibles. A series based on that line might even be kinda cute.

And I keep forgetting to ask: who's Lindley?

On further reflection, perhaps it isn't the same as "Squishies."

Variety Link

Skein will not be a sketch comedy show like "Robot Chicken," and it's not a spoof. Senreich said it will be a story comedy and "character driven." It may include crossover appearances from the movie characters.
So, you may resume your panic. :) Time will tell...

I think people have forgotten that there are a FEW series coming.

1. There is the live action series that bridges the two trilogies

2. This "comedy" series Seth Green will be helming

3. The CGI cartoon aimed at very small children(which may or may not be the same as #2)

4. The post ROTJ CGI series

Lucas is grabbing every one of those teets and squeezing for all he's worth!!!

Maybe he is making up for lost time? We had pretty much no new Star Wars movies and/or TV from 1983-1999.

The AICN article linked in the OP (and the IGN article it uses as a source) indicate that #2 and #4 are the same thing.

If that's true, then.........yuck :(

There's about FOUR TRILLION things Lucas could do(and most likely WILL DO)to fuck this up and only about two or three ways this could end up being the best thing ever.

Personally I am just pleased the horrible and hated EU will FINALLY be nullified, once and for all!

Yeah, because one animated series makes hundreds of books and comics disappear.

When TEH CANON is gone what do we have left to live for in this world???????

It's not "horrible and hated" or it wouldn't be making so much money.

Don't get why there's so much EU negativity. Is there some kind of unwritten rule that only Lucas can write Star Wars?

Might as well consider all non-GR Star Trek non-canon then ;)
