Post 10 Facts About Yourself

1. I hate most celebrities... alot. Especially ones that don't star in movies and are famous merely for creating scandals.

2. I consider myself an intellectual, part and parcel with "last of a dying breed".

3. If I had a skosh less self-control, I'd probably have killed somebody by now. Probably some idiot in Wal-mart, taking up half the aisle and obstructing my search for whole-grain bread.

4. I hate shopping more than I hate celebrities.

5. My dearest wish is to be able to bend fire to my will.

6. I self-study German. I'd know enough to say "Where is the bathroom", if I knew the word for bathroom.

7. I sometimes slip into a British accent without noticing. I'll go for hours until somebody stops and asks what the hell that accent is

8. I hate anything that has an "i" prefix, i.e., iPad, iPhone, iToast, iSex, iHaveNoLife...

9. My favorite movie is 12 Monkeys. You can watch that movie a billion times and notice something new each time.

10. My least favorite movie is Avatar. It sells because it looks pretty and has a lame, unoriginal message, not because it features any talent or originality.

10 is too many? I was originally thinking of posting "25 Facts" based on a weekly column featured by Us Magazine.

I'll come back with ten more ...

Why don't you try to get to know the people in this thread first? They've been kind enough to open up and it would probably make for a better thread if people interacted with each other.

Here are ten facts that are truly telling of my personality, not just my stats:

1. I am a capable manipulator, but I rarely wield this power, and then only for Good. Mostly.

2. I was raised Agnostic and experienced many religions growing up via my mother's search for spirituality (we were Christian for a while, Jewish for a few years, Buddhist, etc). I am Atheist, and do my very best to respect others' beliefs. I always behave respectfully, but, though I find religion fascinating on an intellectual level -- like a good novel -- I can't help but feel that people who actually believe that nonsense are being duped.

3. I always win Jeopardy when I play along, but will never try out for fear that, should I be selected to compete, I'd fail in embarrassment due to an overrepresentation of questions about sports.

4. I believe wholeheartedly in both Capitalism and Socialism, and think an ideal society would find the two working together in harmony. I think this is unlikely to be achieved, but some nations are close to it.

5. I'm a polymath.

6. I think anyone without baggage is either lying or boring. I am not interested in dull liars.

7. I've only just recently, at 27, developed an interest in having a relationship. I've had flings, but never fallen in love. I've never felt I needed a man to complete my life or make me happy, but I am starting to feel that it'd be nice to be in love. Perhaps it's my biological clock kicking in.

8. The amount of awe and wonder with which some properties of physics, mathematics, and good music fill me is often enough to make me cry. I love science.

9. I can draw with photographic realism, but much prefer my own, twisted versions of reality.

10. I'm a really cool person, and a good person, I think, but I treat myself more cruelly than I could ever imagine treating another. I don't think this is uncommon.

1. I went to high school in Alaska.
2. I've been programming computers since I was 6.
3. I've written a few novels but not published any.
4. I'm quiet in large groups. The larger a group, the quieter I get. Beyond a certain point I just like to listen to people rather than talk.
5. Both my parents have had problems with alcoholism, so I rarely drink myself.
6. I have Tourette's and smoking weed aggravates it, thus that sort of recreational activity is a no-go.
7. People think I'm weird and they're probably right.
8. Social activities are very draining for me. It's not that I don't enjoy being around people, it's just that I can only take so much of it at once.
9. My favorite recreational activity is world-building or "conworlding," as it's called.
10. I'm polyamorous and most people don't know what that means or have really weird assumptions about it.
