Possible new job: mildly freaking out

The last position I accepted (current company) gave me three months before reporting to work. Granted, it involved selling my house on the east coast, buying a new one on the west coast and moving my family and all my possessions, but if an employer really wants you then they're generally willing to accept a little delay. That's been my experience anyway.

It depends on the job really. What RoJoHen is going for is effectively entry level. You don't get the same kind of consideration for relocating for an lower-level job that you do once you have valuable experience.

They've told me a month is an acceptable amount of time, and tonight I broke the news to my current co-workers. It was met with much sadness, and now I'm sad that I'm leaving.

It's just weird because, as much as I didn't plan on it, I've built up a life here. I thought I was only moving out here to go to college. Along the way, I managed to make really good friends, and I even picked up a couple of godchildren. It's weird saying goodbye to that.
