I voted TUC because that film left the most lasting impression on me, as well as I love the conspiracy plot.

My top 5 actual list (current as of this minute ;) )

1. TUC
2. ST 09
3. tied between TVH and TWOK
4. FC
5. STID

I have to admit I am surprised so many like TUC. I thought the force mind meld that Spock did with the female Vulcan would turn most off to the movie. Some critics called it mind rape.

It was mind rape. But without it, two powers go to war and millions are likely killed.

The needs of the many...

I rank The Undiscovered Country second out of the twelve Trek films.

I don't recall anyone being too upset by it until recently.

One of the most powerful scenes of all, and proof that Nimoy still had it.

The Wrath of Khan, my favourite Star Trek film and one of my very favourite films in general. I love the themes, the naval parallels, the classic baddie, the crew are great, it's just a fantastic plot.

I voted for 'The Wrath of Khan', it is simply so good it works as a movie, you do not need to be a Trekkie to enjoy it. Even all the over-acting just makes it better.

Honourable mentions to: First Contact [my second favourite], The Motion Picture and The Undiscovered Country.

Crap, I voted before realising I could vote for more than one.

These days the TNG movies seem fresher to me than the TOS ones, and NEM is the freshest because it's the least familiar*, so I voted for that. It has good qualities and makes good background viewing.

(*Actually, INS would be the least familiar, but that's because I find it the most painful to watch.)

I like ST3 thru STX for a very unusual reason. They all came out while I was working in movie theatres. And I got paid to see all of them. Even got to see a work print of Voyage Home months before it released. Without the floaty heads sequence.

I voted for "The Final Frontier", since the poll asks "favorite", not "best".

"The Voyage Home"is the best executed film with the sharpest script,

but "The Final Frontier" is my favorite; I get what Shatner was trying to achieve. I get this film isn't for people who like their Trek more serious, and nerdy, and thats cool. But for fans like me who enjoy the Kirk-Spock-McCoy interaction of TOS, a certain campiness along with the attempt to say something meaningful---this is up our alley. I dont care if Bran Farren or ILM is doing the effects. I think this is how Shatner 'saw' "Star Trek", and yes, it was the way Star Trek used to be with TOS. Of course, as TNG progressed, Star Trek changed a lot, with techno babble and rigidity. But "The Final Frontier" harkens back to the TOS brand of fun that probably will never be "in style" again.

Well said. I love Star Trek V!
