Posted by AuntRonda There has never been a romance between the captain and a member of the command staff. TPTB will never do it.

Well this my be the time for TPTB to get innovative and ...

... Boldly go where no one has gone before ... :D

Based on the history of Trek......They had a chance to put Janeway/Chakotay and did not so. They had a chance to put Kirk and Rand together and did not do so. They had the chance to put Picard and Crusher together, they did not. They had a chance to put Sisko and Dax together......they did not.....

It is something they choose not to do consistently. It's the one thing they have continuity with.

Ronda

Not to mention it would be in rather bad form if they did put them together. Remember what happened with Worf and Dax... that episode where Worf screwed the mission to save Dax... that put a pretty big mark on his record. He ruined his future carreer because of that.

Imagine Archer going though something like that every other week... the Vulcans would have their way in a minute and have the ship recalled or him replaced.

I wouldn't find it "innovative." Starfleet frowns on things like that for a reason. (I'm assuming this time period's Starfleet still does.)

I'm almost 36. Women older than 35 are hot.

Thank goodness. :D

Regarding the problem of the captain having an affair with a subordinate: What is T'Pol's new status on board Enterprise since resigning from High Command? Is she still first officer, or just an unofficial 'consultant?'

Hey, maybe this is the mirror universe and she's the first 'captain's woman.' :D

Yeah, but if they're developing a new reality, a new continuity, then they can do whatever the hell they want to do. Plus, they can show why a captain having a romance with a crewmember is not such a good idea.

We don't know what she is now. She was never shown actually resigning, and Archer gave her the perfect out in "The Expanse" that she wouldn't have to resign, but according to interviews from B&B she did resign, but I haven't seen anything that indicates her official status for season 3.

Re: POLL: What are you looking Forward to most in

i suspect they will give her a field commission as a commander based on her prior service as enterprise's first officer..

and no it dosnt violate canon since spock was supposed to be the first vulcan to go through starfleet academy and graduate

Not to mention is also violates Military protocol.

It's been done......with Picard and crewlady who liked music. That's one plot line I don't need to see again to know that it is not such a good idea.

Excellent points......
Janeway also gave lots of field commissions to the Marquis. So field comissions are not out of the ordinary.

So if her status is unofficial, Archer would no longer be her superior officer (though still her commander, because he's the captain), so a relationship wouldn't violate military protocol. Also, we've had hints that Starfleet doesn't really consider itself military in this time frame. Maybe the MACOs would complain. :)

I still can't see Archer having a relationship with anyone under his command.....offically or otherwise. He is a very ethical character, and would see it as a conflict of interest.

Re: POLL: What are you looking Forward to most in

Many things, as I really don't know what to expect in the third season, as I really don't know that much.

I am looking forward to seeing Enterprise cancelled. I am very disappointed in the quality of the shows of the past season and the past season overall. I felt I was watching the adaptation of a very badly written novel. The show does have potential for story and character development but I do not see that Enterprise will get any better with the current writers/producers. I have stopped watching Enterprise. For me the show is already cancelled.

So you went to the trouble of registering to tell us that? I'll bet you watch every single episode.

Leave him alone MR, some of these basher/gusher wars are started with posts like yours, and to be honest I would expect better behaviour from an ex-mod

I am not responsible for any basher/gusher wars, Stewey. The people involved are responsible for their own behavior and posts. Asking someone why they continue to watch a show they despise is a legitimate question.

That has yet to be answered to my satisfaction, incidentally. ;)

A revenge-seeking Trip. Two reasons:

One: It's likely. Especially since "The Xindi" will apparently have his flashbacks...did anyone else see "Young Trip" in the credit listings?

Two: It could lead to T/T'P easily.
(later episode)
"Revenge is illogical, Commander."
"No, it isn't. Just..." (drops head) "Sometimes, I just don't feel like fighting anymore. Like now. And I can see what you mean, but I can't stop myself."
~
'sides, Trip is going to be the future founder of the organization opposing Section 31.

And the next series should be a ship of secret agents.

...hey, it's new. It's not same old, same old.
It could work.

Don't ever expect it to...
