I like the gray DS9/Movie uniforms, but I also have a fondness for the Abramsverse TOS variant.

In fact I propose a further refinement of the latter: A black version, for use with Starfleet Marines (or whatever you prefer to call them). I always thought an all-black TOS uniform would look really cool. :techman:

My favourite uniform, the Wrath of Khan one, isn't even in the poll options.

With that being said, I like the First Contact/ DS9 ones the most out of these options.

Edit: I'm looking at Ilia's robe a few posts up. She is definitely showing more leg than any woman in NuTrek.
With the TOS mini's it obvious in a few scenes that the women are wearing panties, with Ilia's robe the matter is left to the interpetation of the viewer.

Just saying.

I like the gray DS9/Movie uniforms,
They're cool when they shoulders aren't too purple and too loose. The shaved and chubby Frakes just looks like a daddy about eating his morning cornflakes in Insurrection.

It's kind of weird, because my two serious first contacts with Starfleet uniforms are from 1993. I was 5, my sister got a one-piece TNG uniform as Halloween costume...at christmas I got a two-pieces of pajamas of TNG too (I'm not totally sure perhaps I was in fact a poor TOS redshirt ). Despite that, I appreciate the TNG uniforms when they're not one-piece.

I voted for the ENT uniforms, which bridge the gap between our time and the 23/24th century uniforms. As others have mentioned, they are reminiscent of NASA and the USN Submarine Service. ENT also brought back the field jacket, which first appeared in The Cage, all very practical and believable.

The thing I don't like about the gray DS9/Movie uniforms is their dress versions. Those ungodly gaudy white things. They make the crew look like cruise ship stewards.

Although I'm wondering if those white dress unis are for everyone, or only senior officers. Remember the band that plays when Data is singing (in Insurrection)? They're wearing different kinds of unis altogether. Maybe that's the junior officer's dress uni. In which case it's better.

That being said, I totally love the idea that the fan group called the 'Starfleet Marine Corps' suggested as the real SFMC's dress uniform: a BLACK version of the full dress uni. Now that would have been cool.

That was in Nemesis, and they were supposedly the new enlisted dress uniforms, IIRC.

25 years ago, we laughed at men in skirts. Many posters still do to this day. But I'm willing to bet that society is much more accepting of it now, if the fashion is pulled off right, so if Trek tried it out today, who knows? Being derogatory gender-wise towards men for what they wear is so passe, and doesn't quite fit with how society's progressed in terms of tolerance. If Trek tried it today, there'll be some ridicule sure, but more people will accept it now than back in 1987.

The only mean who wear dresses/skirts where I live are people in ethnic costumes or cross-dressers.

I think people are more tolerant of cross-dressers nowadays but thats not what the skant was was it?
It wasn't an outfit for cross-dressers. It was meant to be some unisex outfit.
I'm afraid 25 years later it would still be laughed at here.

From television: DS9 Grey/Black uniforms. They look more like a professional uniform than anything else Trek did on television.

From movies: Abrams-trek. The dress uniforms look professional & military, as they should. They also pull off the TOS color scheme much better than I thought possible.

I do agree that the primary color variants of TWOK-era uniforms would be a good idea... if the colors were muted just enough to look plausibly professional... with matching pant stripes.

At least the ENT uniforms actually looked Useful. They also looked more realistic for what crew would be likely to wear if we ever do develop proper space travel. Hence I'd call them the best.

Least favourite, TMP uniform, closely followed by early TNG.
