Holy :censored:!!!

For all of the bitching and moaning, the pro-Janeway crowd could have read Full Circle twice. Then they would at least have an educated view of what is going on.

That's not to say that I don't understand their view (I disagree with a few decisions concerning Star Trek XI), Pocket made a decision that they didn't agree with. But at some point you have to just move on.

:guffaw:

I don't know why everyone complains about the arguments. I just finished reading every post in this thread, and I have to say it was LOL hilarious at times.
To paraphrase a certain pointy eared Vulcan "the torrential flood of illogic".:vulcan:
I find that certain posters use overly melodramatic phrasings which, in my opinion, prevent others from taking them seriously. If you wish to convince others of your points, present them in a calm, rational and most of all, consistent fashion without massive hyperbole.
I will not pretend to be a big fan of Janeway. The writing of her character through the series was incredibly uneven and inconsistent. But still, I was not cheering when she died. I was more like "I can't believe they did that".
However after the blandness that was Homecoming I had not been reading the VOY relaunch. Janeways death, and the word that Kristin Beyer was taking over inspired me to give it another chance. I am glad I did. Full Circle was an excellent book, action packed yet emotionally moving. All the things I felt were lacking in Ms. Golden's books. I am eagerly looking foreward to Unworthy.
And, oh yeah, the topic. I think she should stay dead.

I know what you mean. I've been visiting this thread twice a day. It's great entertainment! :)

And makes me more interested in reading Full Circle and I was already interested in reading it as it is.

Which is a reason that I won't buy books from the other series either.

To be honest, I would be very happy if I did find another 24th century series to read now when reading the Voyager relaunch books is a thing of the past for me.

But I know that if there were any references to Janeway's death or confirmation of the events in "Fury" in any of them, I would simply put it down, access the Ebay site on the net and sell it for a symbolic sum.

Lynx, how can you possibly drag this on for forty agonizing pages? Let's sum it up: You wish that the Star Trek books had never killed Janeway. You wish Star Trek: Voyager had never made "Fury". If you can't bear to read or watch anything that reminds you of these incidents, limit your entertainment exposure accordingly. You've ground this particular axe right down to the handle, to be honest. Maybe it's time for a real hobby.

I must inform you that Star Trek is just one of my many hobbies, OK a very important one but not the only one.

And to advice people to drop Star Trek and get other hobbies isn't that smart. I do think that Star Trek need all the fans it can get because that's whats keep Star Trek alive.

Don't forget that it is the people who have ideas and who dare to question who makes history. A society or a community made up of yes-sayers will stagnate.

As for my axe, it's made of the same material as Voyager. In other words, it can't be destroyed. :)

Um...I'm not sure that's the best thing to say. It implies that your axe is made out of badly written material that doesn't stand up to a cursory glance; material that comes out looking all shiney and pretty, but lacks the depth of the battle scars that should have been impressed there on because TPTB lacked the courage of their convictions. But maybe that's what you were going for.

On the other hand, Lynx's axe will never never ever run out of shuttlecraft. So he's got that going for him. :D

^^
It's a special designed Berman-made axe!

Ah, so it deployed batmobile armor then? Listen, all I'm saying is: you're right. I never saw it, but it sounds like the people who wrote "Fury" fucked up. They took a nice character you were attached to and just cocked the whole thing up. Oops. And then Janeway's death just comes out of the blue in a book that most people don't even like. Again, not a Janeway fan, but if they'd killed off Admiral Adama in that fashion I would have been annoyed. Sorry that happened, but if you like the other characters from Voyager, I bet if you at least give Full Circle a chance you might like it. It sounds like there's a big Janeway shaped hole in the Voyager crew's hearts now that she's gone. If there's anyone who can empathize with how pissed you are, it's probably them. I dare you to read it and come back and review it. Just please, no more typing about how pissed you are. You must be wearing your fingers down to the bone by now:lol:.

I have pretty much enjoyed this thread, too. Most of it, anyway. I don't think I've read every post, but dang it, I do keep coming back. It's been a hoot, and a real education, too. No, I am not going to tell you what it's been an education in.

You have a waxed mustache, Gilligan? Eek!

I wasn't really aware of what "Full Circle" was before getting involved in this thread. Of course, that's because I hadn't read any Trek books in a LONG time (the last time I read any were years ago, when I read through a handful of the older style, "this could have been just another episode", self-contained TNG and DS9 novels from the '90s.) Just recently, I dove headlong into the TNG and DS9 relaunches, after discovering that I like them better in almost ever way than those older style novels, but I hadn't read any Voyager books, nor was I up on the schedule of future releases. So this thread made me go from wondering "The heck is that?" when I first saw the name Full Circle, to planning to buy a copy at some point. :)

And honestly, I kinda enjoy debates like this, as weird as that might sound. Sure, there's been some frustration at times, but I still find this whole discussion to be interesting (and as others have said, at times, pretty entertaining).
I just want to find out of Saito S is a boy or a girl...
It's good to want things.

Seriously, though... take a guess, Clay. I'm curious to see which one you're leaning toward. :D

Beyond all of that... I wonder if there is any discussion left? It seems at this point, that damn near everything that can possibly be said on this topic has been said - repeatedly, in many cases - at least when it comes to the specific topic of Janeway's death, and weather or not she should come back. Perhaps there's still more to be had from discussing the more general subject of character death in Trek, but it's possible that's been beaten into the ground in this thread, as well.

I use metal gloves when I'm typing. ;)

Yes, I do like the other characters of Voyager but I'm not gonna read "Full Circle". I just can't stand the scenario with Janeway's death and reading only half of a book is not my scene.

Remember that I did quit Voyager after "The Gift" despite my affection for the other characters and it took two years before I decided to start watching it again (only to have "Fury" slapped in my face). I can be ruthless when I decide to stick to my principles. As a matter of fact, it wasn't long ago before I did quit watching another series which I had been watching for some years because a change of cast members annoyed me.

Dude, you really don't handle change of any kind very well do you... I can't help but kinda feel sorry for that. I have to ask, do your family and friends place the same rigid expectations on you that you seem to place on everything else? Must be difficult. I certainly couldn't live that way.
