Those bond fan reviews got me watching the series again. So what is your favorites?

So hard. Ultimately, I went with 'Casino Royale,' because I could watch that movie until the end of time. But I really wanted to go with one of the Connery flicks, especially 'From Russia With Love' or 'Goldfinger.'

I'm going to have to rewatch OHMSS again. Just what is it that so many Bond fans love about this movie? It's got a great score and some of the action sequences are good, but I find it hard to get past Lazenby's performance. By the way, I'm not knocking anyone for liking the movie, I'm just curious as to what makes that film better than most of the others?

From Russia with Love is my favorite ever. I voted for the first three and Goldeneye. I meant to vote for Casino Royale, but forgot.

Goldfinger. Has the best villains, best theme, hottest women -- who can resist a woman named Pussy Galore? Runner-up for me is You Only Live Twice.

I voted for each of my favorites from every Bond:

From Russia with Love
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (okay, hard to vote for any others since this was Lazenby's only one)
For Your Eyes Only
The Living Daylights
GoldenEye
Casino Royale

I think it's hard to get round Goldfinger's status as the iconic template for the series. It's not the first movie in the series but it was the one where the franchise really found its feet and all subsequent movies are in its footsteps.

Having said that, OMHSS has a lot of heart and emotion, Goldeneye is a great populist 'Give 'em what they want' 007 movie and Casino Royale is like OMHSS but with a better lead actor and less gimmicks and silly sequences. It's too hard to pick one.

From Russia With Love, Goldeneye, and Tomorrow Never Dies (my pick for most underrated) - I forgot to vote for Casino Royale.

I think Goldfinger is severely overrated; for all its iconic scenes, the villain and plot are incredibly stupid.

Sean Connery is my favorite Bond, but my top Bond films are On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Casino Royale and Goldeneye.

I've never been able to connect with this one, either. I've found it, at best, "Okay" but I've never been wowed by anything in particular about it.

I went with Goldfinger, but that alternates with Goldeneye very closely, followed by Dr. No, The Spy Who Loved Me, and The Living Daylights.

That's what I'm thinking today. Ask me tomorrow and I might throw You Only Live Twice and From Russia with Love in there. Generally I think about half the films are in the quality or upper echelon of the franchise, then you get a few meh, and then one or two skippers. Perhaps For Your Eyes Only, Licensce to Kill, and maybe Live and Let Die round it out for me.

I was on a watching and reviewing streak myself, but then I started watching Buffy again, too, but now its been a crazy Fassbender Festivus, so I'll have to get back into Bond next year. Then again, I only have Moonraker, The Man with the Golden Gun, and Diamonds are Forever left to watch, so maybe since those are so ho hum that's why I'm stalled. :0)
