I think these qualify as "overly complex". And they ain't fictional. They also look a bit TOS-movie-ish.

I did say historical fiction, though maybe I should have included historical nonfiction.

I would say the uniforms used on the International Space Station are relatively complex, with all of the zippers, and Logos.

Not really. Sure, they have a lot of patches and pockets, but they're mostly one color and are aesthetically pretty simple.

Crazy idea here, but how about we wait for the actual episode before we start critiquing the plot? Cool.

Where is there a rule that says anyone has to have seen an actual episode to discuss it in any way? Is that not the purpose of a message board?

I'm afraid yes, you can only discuss the plot once you know what it is, message board or not. Everything concerning the logic and consistency of the plot is just a shot in the dark at this point, it's not “discussion”.
