No. Whether there's another Trek movie or not depends entirely upon how much money this one makes.

Sad isn't it, that all everything comes down to is money, not how to please its fans, which would, intern, make ALOT of money lol![]()

Still want to know if Gene L. Coon and Carey Wilber were afforded any credit or money for Star Trek II? I'm hard pressed to see a difference here.

^ With this now added into the mix, I've got to believe this whole Gardian of Forever plot leak is a crock of shit. Free publicity and buzz is all this is about, not ST:XI.

Well, let's see what some memorable Trek time travel stories have been:
"City On The Edge Of Forever"
"Yesterday's Enterprise"
"Trials And Tribbleations"
"Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home"
"Star Trek: First Contact"
Clearly, nothing there that either fans liked or that was notably popular or successful with the general public. What are they thinking?![]()
There were a couple silly time travel ideas in Voyager and Enterprise, but up until that point, time travel episodes were usually a pretty good deal in Star Trek. "Endgame" and the Temporal Cold War kind of destroyed that perception among hardcore fans, but the average movie-goer won't know that--the average movie-goer probably won't care at all that it's a time travel story.

They should make The Canon Cannon canon. And then blow it up. With a cannon.Stag said:

Considering all the trouble that damned Guardian causes, you'd think somebody would level it with a cannon before it destroys their canon.
Hmmm, a Canon Cannon![]()

The one thing of which I'm most fearful regarding this film is the tendency to be self-referential.

Sounds pretty shitty.
Hopefully they came up with something better than this.

Not really - that's why popular entertainment continues to be produced. The people involved don't do it for free be they the actors or the studio backing them.

No, not really. I work for money - I like what I do, but if they didn't pay me I'd sure be working someplace else and if necessary doing something else.
