Excuse my ignorance, but if these are the spy photos Spy photos , where do you see TNG costumes?

Please let me know, thx

Have older Spock step through the Guardian and right into Rigel VII just as the landing party is about to get jumped by the Kaylar. Then Spock says "Hey, over here!" and distracts them allowing them to get ambushed and the Yeoman killed and his younger self injured...hilarity ensues...

Is everyone not worried at the fact this may mean it could be the last Trek movie?

No. Whether there's another Trek movie or not depends entirely upon how much money this one makes.

Sad isn't it, that all everything comes down to is money, not how to please its fans, which would, intern, make ALOT of money lol :brickwall:

The spy photos show people wearing spandex mock turtle necks with zip up collars. These are very similar to the shirts (worn under jackets) worn in First Contact and DS9. However, I don't remember anyone wearing green tops in that era... and you're right. We really don't know what they are supposed to be.

Using the Guardian of Forever to bookend the film? I'd love to see that. I thought it was best way to underpin the whole franchise when I put this montage together last year...

Fans responded very well to 'In Harm's Way', the second New Voyages which combined several iconic TOS elements.

Not really - that's why popular entertainment continues to be produced. The people involved don't do it for free be they the actors or the studio backing them.

Still want to know if Gene L. Coon and Carey Wilber were afforded any credit or money for Star Trek II? I'm hard pressed to see a difference here.

I know for a fact Gene L. Coon didn't get residuals from the use of Khan in TWOK.

He was dead. Whether his family or estate got money, or Wilber got anything, is another matter...

^ With this now added into the mix, I've got to believe this whole Gardian of Forever plot leak is a crock of shit. Free publicity and buzz is all this is about, not ST:XI.

I have to agree. I'm smelling a somewhat interesting disinformation campaign, with "leaks" and "false leads" released each month or so. Last month it was the Shatner thing, this one it will be Ellison's donut.

Next month, they'll wheel out the TNG cast to complain they aren't in the movie. Then it will be Fredric Brown's estate threatening to sue over the use of a Gorn, then...

This is going to be an entertaining year. :D

No, not really. I work for money - I like what I do, but if they didn't pay me I'd sure be working someplace else and if necessary doing something else.

I'd have no problem with this as the plot, assuming that it's for real. After all, if Nimoy has more than a passing cameo in the film, time travel almost has to be involved. And it would be fun to see the Guardian again, rather than have them resort to sling-shotting around the sun.

Well, let's see what some memorable Trek time travel stories have been:

"City On The Edge Of Forever"
"Yesterday's Enterprise"
"Trials And Tribbleations"
"Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home"
"Star Trek: First Contact"

Clearly, nothing there that either fans liked or that was notably popular or successful with the general public. What are they thinking?
Exactly my thoughts.

There were a couple silly time travel ideas in Voyager and Enterprise, but up until that point, time travel episodes were usually a pretty good deal in Star Trek. "Endgame" and the Temporal Cold War kind of destroyed that perception among hardcore fans, but the average movie-goer won't know that--the average movie-goer probably won't care at all that it's a time travel story.

Twilight was Enterprise's best time travel story, and IMO, it can stand up to any of the best episodes of any other Trek series.

my point? done well, nothing can beat a time travel story in Trek. it's gold.

I'd like to see if this is true though. something tells me Abrams (AND Ellison) is playing with our minds.

Considering all the trouble that damned Guardian causes, you'd think somebody would level it with a cannon before it destroys their canon.

Hmmm, a Canon Cannon :rommie:
They should make The Canon Cannon canon. And then blow it up. With a cannon.

:D

And then make a feature film starring Dyan and Nick...never mind. I'll go back to my corner now. ;)

The one thing of which I'm most fearful regarding this film is the tendency to be self-referential. That was one of the things that killed Nemesis for me. It was like we had to run through a continuity checklist for each character, the TNG universe up to then, etc. It just didn't feel right. I'm hoping they just present the characters as is as well as the Guardian without feeling the need for filling in the audience about who and what everything is. I'm hoping they go the new Doctor Who route in that respect. Say what you will about the new Who, but it has done an excellent job with bringing back old monsters and characters.

This is why I wince at the inclusion of characters like Carol Marcus. If this turns out to be "old home week" for anyone who's a fairly knowledgable fan I'll be a little disappointed - I'd like to see unfamiliar characters and situations just as much as the folks who will presumably be seeing "Star Trek" for the first time. That was, after all, what we got just about every week on TOS.

Where did i say they should do it for free? I Said by pleasing the fans that it would probably make a damn sight more money than it would 'just to make a quick buck' meaning IMO this movie isn't paving the way for another sequel having read the rumours etc. Just didn't think it should be set in the TNG era, instead, after Nemesis. IMO...

Well yeah, obviously you work for money  again, i didn't say they should do it for free... just touch on something that would please the fans...
