Playmates Toys

I’ll give them this. The announcement has me scanning eBay looking to plug holes in my collection. May even go over to the parents and dig thru boxes to find the bulk of what I have.

I can’t believe some figures like the Yesterday’s Enterprise Yar and Tapestry Picard still go for 400-500 bucks.

Let me know if you need help. I know a lot of vintage sellers around my area. Though, I am not usually looking for mint on card type of condition too :D

I'm looking forward to the release of more details.
I got some of the action figures in the mid-2000s. In size and accessories, they went well with the Kenner Jurassic Park/The Lost World Toy lines. I tell you, when I was playing, Lieutenant Commander Tuvok found the cloning of dinosaurs highly illogical.

My hope for the new figures is that there is a wide range of figures of the same size. From the movie Star Trek, I have big Nero and tiny Kirk, that's weird. Plus. we need to get all the uniform variants - from gold/blue Burnham, silver/blue Burnham, S3 finale Burnham, S4 Burnham to S7 Janeway to Admiral Janeway, etc.

Stargate figures worked pretty close too. Cadet Crusher really enjoyed the Death Glider.

Because Geordi never gets done.

Nah. LeVar Burton nixed it due to likeness approval. The intended sculpt had the wrong hair, IIRC.

really. That makes it even more puzzling that they never did the crew in the Monster Maroons. Not counting the illegitimate Kirk, Scotty and Checkov from Generations.

Saavik.

And NewForce's "Flashback" Janeway.

Janeway in the monster maroon seems to pop up on ebay occasionally, but the figure is rather pricey. It was an exclusive in a box instead of the normal bubble package.

Edit: fact checked my original comment.

If anything you may find the 3 pack they put out in response to the backlash. It has the Yar, Barclay and Picard.

finally had a chance to get all the old figures from my parents basement this weekend. I forgot how many of these I had.

But I think I still missed a box because I’m missing some that I know I had.

It looks like of the main casts, I’m only missing Kira, Quark, Jake, Seven, Neelix, Kes and the Doctor. But I know I have Kira and Neelix (plus Trials and Tribbles O’Brien) which makes me think there is a 3rd box somewhere.

Well, I'm hoping that the new Playmates figures will be in the "true" scale of 3.75" inches (like their otherwise fairly mediocre 2009 "Star Trek" line.)

I only owned a handful of the old Playmates figures, but I would have bought every single one if they were in 3.75"

However, sometimes licenses are granted to different companies for different scales. Which is why Hasbro makes Star Wars figures in 3.75" and 6" but not 12".

And so given that Super7 is now doing Star Trek: TNG "Reaction" figures, I worry this means Playmates won't go near that scale.
