Pilot Episode Cameo

In the fine tradition of having a cast member cameo from an earlier Star Trek series in the first episode of the new series (DeForest Kelley - TNG, Patrick Stewart - DS9, Armin Shimmerman - VOY and James Cromwell - ENT), I'm curious to see if there will be one in Star Trek: Discovery and who it might be.

Her character could be having a conversation with Sarek before the mission begins - bridging the gap with the only two characters that make sense.

Even William Shatner as Commodore Kirk (James T Kirk's ancestor) would fit to.

I'd like a digitally de-aged Q stopping to check them out (without interaction) and then leaving because they're too primitive. "Maybe in a hundred years...". A twist on the sendoff and a promise that we won't see Q again until TNG gets rebooted.

The problem with Q is he would not mean anything to a totally new audience. T'Pol would at least be able to say she remembers the first Starship launch/crew or the founding of the Federation.

To a new audience, she is just an older Vulcan offering advice, to fans, she is a torch bearer handing it over to a new production team/series

I think it's more likely T'Pol would end up being a recurring character down the road.

It didn't have to be Berman's idea. It was just happening while he was in charge. A cameo now isn't necessary.
