Picture the Novelverse - Characters, Ships and More !

Easy enough to perk up.. lots of federation class models out there too... have one on my sketchup collection as reference...

Maybe something more unique...

Love that Dreadnought cover art so much. It differs quite a bit from the old Tech Manual version with it's hexagonal saucer and Excelsior-ish nacelles. The navigational deflector and saucer domes covered in what look like those CCTV camera shields look ace, too.

Has anyone tried their hand at Data's ship, the Archeus?

- and speaking of.. the super heavy runabout class inspired by the Best Destiny cutter:. If Starfleet is goinf to have a coast guard, they're going to deploy patrol boats as well as heavy frigate...

and of course her development patch and MSD (dont judge too harshly, was my literal first)

Never got that far. I found a drawing…took it to a copy store and had the image squeezed flatter. I did a mirror copy of an octagonal saucer, but it was shorter in the back…so I mirrored it to make the saucer wider. I was hoping someone with more talent might flesh it out.

Done with tape and scissors

I wanted it lean and evil looking…evoking the Bismarck. Without the squeeze…it looks a bit comical. Here is where I fell down: I wanted each saucer facet to have its own torpedo bay with phaser banks…with a bit of a twist to have the pointy end of the saucer lead first…to even better overlap firing arcs…only the secondary hull can fire purely forward and aft.

Because they didn't have the budget to build an entire defense fleet. There was only enough money to buy a Hunt for Red October submarine model kit

FWIW:

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, this studio model was made from a Soviet Typhoon-class submarine, with two Los Angeles-class submarines as nacelles. The model of the Federation defense pod was designed and built by Rick Sternbach as confirmed by Michael Okuda, "Rick S. built the Mars perimeter ship from the same type of model kit. I think the body was made from a Typhoon-class Russian sub kit, although it was not specifically tied to the movie Red October. If I recall, he and I bought a whole bunch of kits, including the Russian subs, in hopes of doing some kitbash ships ourselves. I used a couple of other subs on the Buran. "[21] Sternbach later clarified that there was only one built, "There's no they. It was a single model which I built that was, yes, based on a Typhoon hull at one scale, and two Dallas hulls at a different scale. Motion control and compositing can do wonders in the absence of additional copies." [22](X)

Yes, I know all this. My quip about Hunt for Red October was tongue-in-cheek in response to @The Reverend 's comment. Michael Okuda's original idea was for him and Sternbach to build their own kitbashes besides the models that Ed Miarcki and Greg Jein contributed, but there wasn't time. Okuda was able to half-finish one model, which consisted of parts from the 1:2500 Enterprise-D kit with a half-inch plastic filler going through the model and an oversized custom bridge module, thereby making the ship both tiny and thick. But he didn't finish it in time.

Here's the cover of Reap the Whirlwind partly recreated in a Star Trek mod for 'Sins of a Solar Empire'

Beautiful rendition! That's a mod for Star Trek: Armada II, right?

BREAKING NEWS!
2nd edition of the Star Trek: Shipyards - Starfleet Ships 2294 - The Future book reveals the names and registry numbers of Starfleet ships of the year 3189.
One of these is the four-nacelled (but unpyloned) USS Curie NCC-81890-J. Named after Kirsten MF Beyer's Merian-class USS Curie NCC-81890 from the Project Full Circle VOY novels!
