Its funny how America as a whole celebrates the places where we got our asses handed to us. I don't think back then it was a fun place to visit as it is today.

They don't celebrate it; they honor it. Texans consider it to be sacred ground, and an important piece of state history. Inside, the three buildings house a museum dedicated to Texas history; the main building is called The Shrine. The Alamo is referred to as a memorial, not a theme park, and it is run by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, not the State of Texas.

Well I have been taught a lesson. But still we do celebrate in other places areas where we fought and got our butts handed to us. Civil War is a big example of this.

One could say, given the casualties, that America lost. But this really isn't relevant. I'd visit Lexington, I have visited Brandywine, etc. I'm perfectly fine going to historical battles that represent tactical defeats. They're part of history as well.

^I live near Lexington and have visited it. Unless I'm mistaken, the colonials surprisingly routed the British regulars that day.

Though I really want to go to the reenactment this year and have some S'mores flavored schnapps.
