PICTURE POST II!

thanks :) It's really just a matter of having been at the right place at the right time. Sheer coincidence. 5 minutes earlier or later and it'd have looked completely different. Nature is the biggest artist, imo. Last year a colleague and me stumbled across a tree that grinned at us. I'll see if I can find the picture on my backups. A very thick branch had been sawn off as it had a rotting core and the black rott looked just like a smilie.

A little Throwback Thursday action for ya.

I've had this shirt since 2002.

I know that feeling and I revel in it. Really old shirts = luxurious comfort as long as they haven't shrunken too badly over the years.

@Kestra Actually, the horizontal books really help the photo. Think of them as a kind of "arrow" toward your subject. The slightly upward angle of the monitor does the same thing. As do the books under Comet, too. Basically, all the lines of the photo are directing the eye toward Comet - which is a very technically sound thing to do. So even if you weren't thinking that technically as you were taking the photo (and you may have), your eye saw it as you framed it.

Which means you definitely have an eye for photography. Keep at it! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work!
The spill of light on the wall behind also works as part of the "frame".

We're on Long Island for a good friends daughters birthday. The birthday party was in an old gas station that's now an artist studio. It's very cool, here is the outside of it.

A little late, but Christmas pictures!

I think this is my favorite. Me and my little sis at a cafe with an awesome pink Christmas tree!

Who has two thumbs and spent most of her Christmas vacation in the hospital with a tube down her throat after catching pneumonia on the plane? This girl!

But it was okay, because if you're going to get pneumonia, you might as well get it when your mommy is there to take care of you. One of my mom's Irish friends sent her Christmas crackers with jokes and hats. Here's my mom in one:

And my dad was an amazing Santa, my four year old nephew was so star-struck he couldn't speak!

Neither could I, he was so cute when he gave my grandmother a gift (it completely made her day).

My sister knitted my nephew a Spock hat:

I think he's pretty much doomed to Nerd:

And the shot reminds me of the one I took of his older brother, two Christmases ago (My iPhone 3 took WAY better pictures than my 4):

She also knitted a hat for me:

My favorite thing I got is my beautiful new marigold tattoo:

^Thanks! Yeah...I think you can tell how sick I am in the picture with the hat my sister knitted for me. I went to the hospital on Boxing Day.

I also love the pics, tsq! Looks like a festive time (hospital trip notwithstanding). Glad to hear you're feeling better! I especially like the photo with your nephew and the lamp!

@Rhubarbodendron: That's hilarious! Generally when I find faces in places they aren't meant to be it totally weirds me out. But that one is great!

@Tom Hendricks:Cool shot! Looks like a neat place to visit! And Roslyn isn't too far from here. I once bought a Saturn from the (now closed) dealership there.
