PICTURE POST II!

For the past seven years, I've served as Stage Manager for the Constellation Awards ceremony here in Toronto. The Constellations are a fan-nominated, fan-voted award for media science fiction and fantasy.

Our signature category, which sets us apart from other awards, is "Outstanding Contribution by a Canadian". Two of the nominees were a couple whom I knew socially back in the late 1980s, when they lived in Toronto, before they moved to the west coast and became television writer/producers:

That's me in the middle, flanked by Garfield and Judith Reeves-Stevens. You can see one of the trophies in Garfield's hand - they were this year's winners.

Way to go, dude! They're two of my all-time favorite Trek authors and helped make the final season of Enterprise thrilling and a lot of fun.

My new, all time favorite tea infuser. I got this at Teavana a few months ago and can't say enough how great this infuser is. You put the loose tea into it and pour the hot water over it, then let it steep. Then to pour into the cup, you just rest it on top of the cup and it flows out the bottom. They have it in two sizes, this is the large but they also have a smaller version. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys loose brewed tea.

Great photo. What comments did they have?

The concept is pretty cool. What grabbed my attention, though, was the mug. it's a beauty.

Thanks, the mug is from Starbucks. It is my favorite tea mug, I believe I got it in either 2007 or 2008. The seams on the baseball are not just painted on, they are actually cut into the mug and painted.

I've finished five cross stitched pieces this week (housesitting, nothing else to do):

First three are my own designs. Two are Hawkeye-related, the last is an adorably awkward quote from Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.

These last two are quotes from Matt Fraction's Hawkeye. I found the charts on Tumblr.

I have to confess, I couldn't tell you what anyone said when they were on stage - I was too busy following the script and making sure that people were where they were supposed to be, ready for their cues to go on stage. :o

The show was recorded, though, so I look forward to seeing what I missed from my desk three feet from the podium.

I threw a party last weekend where I managed to finally get a bunch of my friends together in one place. The last time that happened was over two years ago, so we all had an awesome time.

I might have posted this one before but this is my mother, my nieces and I about 5 months before my mother went home to the LORD.

I see you've trimmed the beard down to more earthly levels.

I did that about a month ago, mostly out of boredom. The next day at work, I literally had customers yelling at me and getting angry because my beard was gone. It was kinda funny.

The beard will be back. I'm just not sure when.

A beard doesn't ask to come back. It just comes back. And lays claim to your face with all the fury of an invading army replanting its flag on reconquered soil.

I just wish scalp follicles were as mighty as beard and moustache ones.
