PICTURE POST II!

Yeah, and you know what? Because I'm a big softie... I catch them... and release them back into the wild!

'Cause, you know, I'm a big softie. That's what we big softie Aussies do.

When teacake glares at and starts strangling you, don't drag the rest of us into this.

Sometimes I do feel bad but we have times when there's like ten of them in a week. Anytime there's heavy rain, or no rain for ages or any big weather change they just arrive.

My dumbness is I leave the babies, they are cute and orangeish.. and of course they grow up.

Also we've had them drop from the ceiling in front of you while you're in the shower. Naked. That's not a great catch and release scenario.

In that scenario, they would find my fat, naked butt dead from a heart attack on the bathroom floor.

I do NOT like creepy crawlies, let alone ones the size of a small Volkswagon.

Speaking of spiders, over the weekend I don't know how the hell I stumbled into the You Tube video of a guy extracting tarantula spider eggs. I won't link it... it'll probably disgust most of you! ;) Anyway, there are people seriously into the art of breeding spiders. I cannot... will not... relate.

No it's a sweetie pie called a Huntsman. It only bites if antagonized, you can hold them in your hand and the will generally not bite. When they do bite it is about as bad as a wasp sting, though I have known several people bitten in their sleep who were not woken by it. You can get a painful egg like swelling with visible double fang marks in the middle, it only affects the local area. I believe they are also common in Hawaii.

teacake points at the beast..

Teacake,

You cannot imagine the screaming that would have gone on in my house had 'the beast' been found there. I fear that my ears would have been bleeding.

Wow, you must have quite a set of lungs on you. :p

('Sokay, I would definitely scream if that were to show up in front of me. And I'm not ashamed to admit it.)

Not me, my wife and daughter. I would have to be the beast slayer - but to be honest, if I saw one that size I would have to take some time looking at it...I wonder if the Metro Toronto Zoo has one?

There are some very large and colorful spiders in my part of the U.S. but thankfully most of them aren't dangerous to humans, just scary-looking or domestic nuisances.

Speaking of which, a father tries to contain a huntsman spider when all goes awry:

Trip tends to go a little overboard with his digging.

I like putting up personal photos outside a personally controlled space (e.g. Facebook)...but I wanted to add my enthusiasm for the current Star Trek film.

I don't think I know what setting my phaser is on: 'Go to sleep?' or 'You're dead?'

Honorable mentions of cool redshirts before me:

  • Benjamin Lafayette Sisko
  • The security guard - 'that guy' - in 'By Any Other Name'...

Has anyone ever told you that you look like Tracy Morgan? That second shot especially reminds me of him.
