from last month: an entry in Houston's 39th annual Art Car Parade

Meanwhile, a scene from the "Why Am I Still Single?" parade.

Soooo, I’m working temporarily in Mobile, AL, for a few weeks. And near where I’m working is the hulk of the SS United States, the only superliner built by the USA and the final owner of the Blue Riband, the award given to the fastest ship across the Atlantic.

She’s to be sunk in the upcoming weeks to become the world’s largest artificial reef, off the coast of Florida. :( Sad to see her go out like that, but still better than being broken up into razor blades.

And yes, if I’m still working here when they sink it, I’ll be doing my damndest to dive on it! :bolian:

Cheers,
-CM-

Maybe, maybe not -- depends on how it got upside down. If you watch enough videos, for example, you can see a phenomena where two vehicles tires catch each other when too close and it causes one vehicle to flip. Some damage, oh yeah, for sure, but totaled? No. Some strong guys can roll it over. Not saying it'll be cheap repairs, but what was done above -- it'll be too expensive to salvage now.

You know what's sad? Nobody tried to warn the truck driver, best I could see. I thought for sure that guy in the red-looking SUV was going to stop and do it, but then he just kept going. Sad.
