Geek humor. Love it!! Spoiler: What do you call a piece of fruit infused with tin? That's a SNAPPLE, of course.
Visit to Space Shuttle Endeavor Exhibit this past Sunday! Outside the building Inside now. Much of the museum is free, including shuttle viewing but donations accepted. And now the main event of this post... And finally, the last EFT remaining on Earth It will eventually be paired with the shuttle in a HUGE new exhibit being built nearby, modeled here: T-shirts from the gift shop.
7/31/22 adventures part 2 of 2. So after we finished at the Discovery exhibit we wandered down the 110 to Sofi stadium where we had tickets to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers with Beck. First view, taken from the turn lane to access the staduim: And then things got weird. Right after I snapped that^ img, as we sat at that turn lane signal, a traffic rule lawless roving motorcycle/ATV came at us from across the street. Here they are on this same date, 7/31/22, getting fueled up for the run. Not sure if this is before or after we saw them. Here is a video of the same gang at a different location and date. This is exactly the view we witnessed as we were waiting to make that left turn. Fun stuff, eh? In oncoming traffic, on sidewalks. Crazy. The day was normal from there, thank goodness. And yes, I sat there through the whole thing with a camera in my hand but too gobsmacked to remember. So the picture above was the only shot of the front we took. All the following are from the back. Here is a google view of the park for reference. https://www.google.com/maps/@33.9544238,-118.3378443,2168m/data=!3m1!1e3 The roof point at the bottom of stadium. From here we go left towards and circle around the lake before going inside. Some of the last remaining Hollywood Park Race Track Zoom into this one and in front of the maintenance buggy, and see one of the site Hawks charged with shooing away seagulls standing on the handrail. The Handler would not allow us to get closer, or tell us its name for it's protection. Proximity to the airport, and being so nearly in the flight path is why it is mostly underground. Otherside of the lake at last. I missed getting a shot of the grand entrance. Huge! Inside. The opening at the far end was shown in the first image above. We never made it that far. A good breeze blows though the upper-decks. And the Jumbotron.^ It came on briefly between bands but was not part of any performers shows.... Lit up. This image doesn't show, but the inner ring has the same screens as the outer. Show starts. Beck on stage. Flea on stage. Did not get a shot of Anthony Kiedis. His is still in great shape but has cut his hair and grown a porn-stach. Barley recognizable. Closing time.
Born and raised here in Tejas and I can tell you that that ATV/Motorcycle crap would NEVER have flown when I was young. No one would have even tried it, and it would not have been tolerated by the locals or the police. Of course, when I was a little kid, people drove around in old pickup trucks with rifles and shotguns in a rack - in plain sight and nothing was stolen either. No one dared try.
That's not generally why no one would steal them - it's because people had more respect for other people's property back then. Another example of the disrespectful/irresponsible behavior being seen these days, idiots taking cars into major intersections and doing donuts over and over - whole gangs of them doing on a public road blocking traffic... https://www.thedrive.com/news/31613...it-highway-doing-donuts-in-a-chevrolet-camaro
