This is the Avro Arrow, on display at the Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show, where the company I work for is exhibiting.

Wait a second... I thought they were all destroyed?

Yes, that's what I thought, too. I'd love to hear the story behind this.

My maid of honour is an aeronautical engineer and a huge Avro Aero fan (which is how I know a bit about them), and for my gift to her I cross stitched an Aero for her. Wish I had a picture of it, but I know she still has it on display 18 years later.

Mum wanted to be able to concentrate on a visitor rather than her two yappers this fine morning... so I'm dog-sitting:

This is my spawn, which is about 10 weeks along. The pictures made it real for me, so panic may set in soon. Also my mother really wishes I'd stop calling it spawn, but... it's not like I'm naming it that.

That Avro Arrow is a replica, as someone already commented. The only one in existence, as I understand. Beautiful, though, and really big! Someone in the Arrow team was talking to my coworkers and I for a good twenty minutes about the replica project. Looks like it's destined for a hanger at Pearson for a while.

TorontoTrekker, my company was just an exhibitor, and had nothing to do with the Arrow. We were lucky, though, because our booth was maybe a couple hundred feet from her. And we left through the Arrow tent every day.

Yes, the pics are so clear, so much better than 15 years ago. Congratulations! :D

No kidding! I remember looking at one of my friend's pics and smiling while I let on that I could actually see something. These are amazing.

Congratulations on your spawn Mari! (Is it twisted that I like the nic-name "Spawn" so much better than "Sweetpea"? :))

Thanks all. :) My best friend called hers spawn as well, so that's probably where I got it from. We're all a bunch of nerds who are still surprised we're married, never mind creating little nerdlets.

I'm thrilled the doctor was willing to give me that one 3D shot, as generally they don't do them here unless you're high risk. I can vaguely remember back in 1985 hearing my youngest sister's heartbeat at one of Mom's ultrasounds, but couldn't figure out a thing on the tiny B&W monitor. I go to that same practice now, and they've got a giant full color flatscreen on the wall and the 3D thing. :)

I don't know if parents were offered and allowed to take home sonagram pictures of their babies when my mom was pregnant with me (1974). I don't think sonagram images became popular with parents until I was much older, at least I don't remember seeing them become common until then.
