Picard: What If Shinzon Had A Child

What if Picard's clone Shinzon had a half Romulan kid? That would be such a great story element to introduce into the new show. Picard has totally closed the door on kids and his niece and nephew died. To find out his clone was a father would be crazy. He could be like an uncle-figure to this person. They'd be 15 - 17 at this point or older.

I think that anything related to Shinzon and Nemesis will be the last thing on the writers’ minds. And do we really need a half Romulan half clone human emo teen running around?

Except the part about Data's sacrifice 20ish years earlier. Picard explicitly discusses that (unless that's just exposition in the trailer). So:

Data's death --> Destruction of the Scimitar --> Owner is Shinzon

There's also the power vacuum on Romulus that was created in the aftermath, which probably led to a fractured society and civil war, which probably has something to do with Picard's armada rescue (throw the Borg in somehow).

That’s true. But obviously they had to reference Nemesis in order to bring back Spiner ;)

I think that’s more about the events of Star Trek ‘09 rather than Nemesis.

They can mention Data's death and B-4 without directly mentioning Shinzon, just like TSFS mentions Spock's death and Genesis planet without directly mentioning Khan.

The Romulan situation is almost certainly based around Trek XI with their connection to the Borg being taken from the Trek XI Countdown comic.

I don't have a problem with this. Regardless of people's opinion of Nemesis, it's still canon, and elements can (and most likely will) be used in this upcoming series.

Not gonna lie, Dahaj being Shinzon's secret child is kinda cool.

I still think she's a re-activated Lal, or next gen superBorg or something.
Maybe Shinzon was able to create the Scimitar without being found out because the "secret base" was where they were doing work on Borg technology. Meanwhile had a kid with a Deanna clone? Dahj can "sense" things.

I'm not crazy about any of these theories, but that's how the rabbit hole goes.

I think the political fallout of what Shinzon did is more important than personal connection he had to Picard and any soap opera antics that could lead to. Think about it, Nemesis happened in 2379, Romulus had a military coup, Shinzon, the Remans and the military assassinated the Senate and the Praetor and made Shinzon Praetor. Then Shinzon tried to kill everyone on Earth and died while fighting Picard, so Romulus lost its new Praetor in pretty short order. Then Romulus blows up in 2387. So the Romulan government was in total disarray 8 years before the Supernova destroyed Romulus and the Romulan military was so hell-bent for war in 2379, that they killed off their own civilian government and made a deal with the Remans and that was right after the Dominion War.

Did these extremist elements within Romulan society just disappear after Shinzon died? I doubt it. To me, most of the hanging plot threads from the TNG era involve the Romulans and its more than just the fact that their home planet exploded. Sisko tricked the Romulans into declaring war on the Dominion, the Romulan military launched a coup against the civilian government and tried to start a war with the Federation and then Romulus blows up. That is the stuff that should be explored, not Shinzon having a kid.

Shinzon is a kinda a crap character. The show would be better served by simply addressing the fallout he created, with trying to continue his storyline with a kid.

My theory is the the Vulcan logic extremists (or their descendants) blew up Romulus when reunification became viable. Now that’s twisted!

Shinzon was into Dee, because she wasn't as hard as all the women he'd been with in the past... I took that to mean, at least in the beginning of his adolence, that the larger stronger Reeman women, would take turns raping him.

Or is there something "hard" about Romulan women too?
