Picard Season 2's Time Travel Will Fix Season 1's Biggest Mistakes

There's something very Trekkie about getting mad at Picard's consciousness being put in an android body, and thinking the "solution" would be for a magical being to just pop him back to life with a snap of the fingers. And probably in the same breath calling out the new show for "lazy writing."
At this point in time it feels like just an excuse to be mad and treat new Trek as, appropriately it seems, a poor copy. Apparently the need for Star Trek to fit in to a nice neat little box that the show not doing so creates a lot of discomfort.

It's far easier to create a separate timeline in my head than to go "Picard is dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

But it's just an excuse for people to dislike Picard, IMHO.
Yeah, definitely an excuse, possibly to resolve not liking it in general. I think a lot of Trek fans want to like all Trek especially with their favorite characters, be it Kirk, Picard, Data or Spock. But, it is difficult to square up against story choices so finding a reason to hate it makes the cognitive dissonance go away.

I mean, Picard being in Starfleet via Q magic means he probably isn't an android but I don't see that as "fixing" things.

Unless you are a fan TRULY obsessed with minutia.

What are talking about?? He was reconstructed via the transporter. He was still in a state of consciousness out in space. He was basically a matter stream...like Barclay he was still conscious..
Yeah. Whatever. I can see now that arguing this matter with you is like arguing with a flat earther. No matter how much actual facts, logic and actual canonical events are presented to you, you're just going to believe what you want to believe anyway. Have fun with that.

Sorry you feel that way. Not one person has brought a compelling argument. Not one. People have brought examples from TOS (What little girls are made of) to TNG lonely among us. Neither were good comparisons. Than people are still on this kick that the transporter makes a new you every time you are transported. I dont know where this started but it's been stated/shown twice now that one is conscious in the matter stream. I'm sure this falsehood about a "new you" every transport, will become trek fact since so many franshcise producers seem to do what fans babble about online nowadays. Look at Fast and Furious and their space scene. Fans joked about it for years and the producers did it and it was as bad as one would expect....

Again I'm sure the producers of Picard will use a throwaway line to say its Picard. Even Parick Stewart wanted to know how deep the character is affected by being turned into a robot and the prodcuers blew him off.

This smells of the same BS that abrams and his crew did to Star Wars. Ignore stuff and dont take any advice from your lead actors who have been in this long before them. Mark Hamil asked Rian Johnson why Luke didnt acknowledge 3po during filming of TLJ. Rian said something to the affect just do what you want with a smug wave of his hand. Its little things like this that these guys completely ignore and DONT get right. Its sloppy and shows they dont respect what came before.
While Star Trek has more errors than any other franchise out there. Is it that Hard for these guys to get simple lines of dialog correct?

Want to know a legacy show that gets it right?? Makes fans happy? Honors all what came before?? Good or bad?? COBRA KAI.....its about as perfect of a continuation of an old franchise i have ever seen. Is it 100% perfect. No. But it remembers its roots and tries damn hard to stay within the parameters of what came before.

Picard was sloppy. Better than Discovery? Yes. But still. Killing off Picard. Copying his memory into a robot was completely stupid and lazy writing. They should have left Picards death for the last season of the show.

The writers and producers say this is Picard. The characters accept him as Picard. Q accepts him as Picard. But wait a minute! Dar70 isn't convinced!

:crickets chirp:

:dogs bark in distance:

:a siren of some sort responds to a nearby emergency:

Korath: "Who?"

No. It keeps things static. I like it well enough but it is almost reverential and things barely change. It moved from respect to fear.

So everytime they make an mistake or totally change things because of production techniques or they need to attract new fans...let's just ignore what came before???
Let's make 1701 in Discovery completely different in size and look. Minor upgrades to interior or exterior would have been fine. But no they totally redesigned the ship.

Let's make Data look like he has the hairline of a 10 year old. Let's kill Picard and than act like it never happened and that he is still the original.

Let's redo the Klingons once again.( After another show cleared up the look discrepancies).
First producers Explained it away as being different houses and than said that they shave their heads during war.....which is it??? Neither because they decided to give them them their TMP/TNG look back during season 2. Lol

Dont even get me started on the whole dilithium story in Discovery. Haha. Smh....

Lazy lazy and just bad writing....lets hope Stange New Worlds is better...I'm not totally giving up yet.

Extremist comment is extreme. Hard to take the rest seriously.

Pretty sure i have covered that ground already. Even Stewart was miffed by the fact the prodcuers are completely ignoring the fact hes a robot now...
....again Lazy and bad writing when they have to make moronic statements after the fact.

Sorry. But people are making a lot of excuses for these shows. Apologists. Yet I remember 17 years ago the outrage over ST:Enterprise on these very boards over the use of a pop song as a theme, the NX Enterpeise being an Akira class etc. That show adhered much better to what came before than these Kurtzman shows.

How dare people defend what they like? Apologists is not an insult. And TNG is not real Trek, so i was unconcerned with Picard.

And ENT was poor show, not real Trek.

It's only has about 30, one half hour shows. Basically 15 hours of content. Again not perfect but fun and they get the details and look right. Season 4 will being elements from the third film in. Yeah not the best film but they are not ignoring it. Bring on Terry Silver...

Uninteresting. It started out ok. Now its just nostalgia bait .

Enterprise was not a poor Trek. I just rewatched it and liked it even more the second time around. Sure the last ep sucked. But still the show was damn fun and had some great little episodes and character moments. Havent seen much of that in kurtztrek. Some but not a lot...

Nope. It was too futuristic. Didn't work. I couldn't stand it. Writers were so invested in looking like TNG it reflected poorly. Archer was a terrible captain. No enjoyment like real Trek.
