Yeah, the saucer is from the Malachowski class (the Clarke there), nacelles are from the Hoover class. The added bit between the pylons is brand new.In actuality, I believe that the Tugs are more of an offshoot of the USS CLARKE...

I used to be. Then they started giving us overdesigned messes starting with the Enterprise-E.
Well we know Eaglemoss has them. All they needed to do is ask them for the models.
Seriously, they needed a ship for a ten second shot, it was quicker and cheaper to grab one that's already rendered and available then it would have been to create a new mesh. And really, I was absorbed enough in this Short Trek that the presence of a ship from Disco didn't even register. At all. And I'm usually nitpicky AF.

If that was the case I just wouldn’t have shown it at all. Just show a wide shot of Mars. I doubt they could mess that up.
I just wish the old production team was still around. You hear stories of them working in their free time on things so that it fits proper. They wouldn’t have done something like that.

Huh? When has anyone on any Star Trek ever worked to make sure things "fit proper"? And things like this have always been happening in Trek, going all the way back to TOS. And they'll continue to happen in the future as well.
Tell you what: I’ll get over the fact that they used DSC ships if you get over that there are ships with registries starting with a zero. Deal?

Please tell me those Discovery Era ships that we saw were relegated to simple duties like Tug Ship / Buoy Repair?

The actor who played the Vulcan principal, Robert Verlaque, is the same actor who played Saru’s dad in DSC S2.
Short Treks probably don’t have the budget for new designs.
I'm sure if you tossed a few coins to the "TrekYards" Commander Cockings, he could've whipped up something pretty nice for pocket change.

Are you serious? The Bergman era production team would have done it in a second if time or budget demanded it. Wouldn’t have bat an eye about it. How many alpha quadrant ships make it to the Delta quadrant? How many 24th century ships fight future Xindi? How big is a Bird of Prey???? You can have the opinion that you wished different ships were used, but to say it reflects poorly against this production team versus any other Trek series production or that certain crews wouldn’t have done it is simply flat out wrong. TOS look the Romulans have a Klingon design? Why, because they lost the romulan ship. Look why did that bird of Prey explode the same exact way in two different movies? Why is that freighter in 8 different races and three different time periods.....you could literal find over a hundred examples of this happening, easily.

Star Trek reused effects shots all the freaking time. It reused props, designs, ship models, matte paintings and every asset possible. Yes, it would have been done because time is limited.
I'm curious to know who covered "Life on Mars." I didn't see it mentioned in the credits (which is surprising). Does anyone know who it was? Apologies if someone already mentioned it. I only skimmed the 300+ new posts.
