Yeah why does seven need a ''special counselor''? she was a Fenris Ranger for 20 years. My only thing about the new cast is that Jack Crusher just isn't that interesting.
So, as far as hooks go the Legacy series has a long road for me to get hooked. I hope it does so. A lot of the Kurtzman Trek series have done well with stuff I would consider uninteresting at first blush.
What's funny is that I'm mostly indifferent towards Picard Season 3 and I've really got nothing bad to say about Matalas, himself. It's this cult of personality that's built up around him. This idea that he's the Savior of Star Trek, that's driving me batty."I didn't like Picard Season 3!" and "I don't like Terry Matalas!"
Most ship's counselors probably have a background in psychology and any related field regarding crew welfare. As Jack likely doesn't have that, he gets the title "special counselor" from Seven to justify his real position as simply her aide in shady--I mean, unorthodox--matters where he has more experience than her.Yeah why does seven need a ''special counselor''? she was a Fenris Ranger for 20 years.
That I agree with. What's funny is that I'm mostly indifferent towards Picard Season 3 and I've really got nothing bad to say about Matalas, himself. It's this cult of personality that's built up around him. This idea that he's the Savior of Star Trek, that's driving me batty.
The interview had the ring of being pitched to an audience of one.I just read that Dave Blass interview on Trekmovie. He sure as shit did not sell Legacy as a series to me. "We'd have this show look like Traditional Star Trek. We'd build a traditional engine room like TNG or Voyager had." So it'll go back to the 1990s and pretend the last thirty years haven't happened. Blech.
Also, LOL "Greenlight this before you lose Matalas. Every other franchise wants him to do for them what he did for Trek with Picard S3." Yeah, no.
He makes this series sound even less appealing to me than it did before. And it didn't appeal to me to begin with.

Agreed. What's funny is that I'm mostly indifferent towards Picard Season 3 and I've really got nothing bad to say about Matalas, himself. It's this cult of personality that's built up around him. This idea that he's the Savior of Star Trek, that's driving me batty.
It's a little desperate. My God but the commenters at Trekmovie work themselves up about "Legacy."Agreed.
Nothing in Season 3 made me go "wow" beyond an occasional character moment. It rang like a lot of Kurtzman era Trek to me so the fan adulation of Matalas seemed forced.

Might be safer to just... not put him on a spaceship?
