I wanted to like Season 1, and it had some great stuff at the beginning, but they lost me at ripping Icheb's eyeball out. I wanted to watch Star Trek, not Saw.I changed my mind after rewatching season 1 again. It's not so bad, yeah they really copied the plot of Mass Effect and had a silly Romulan cult that nobody has ever heard of before and were mucking around with a Borg cube but as a whole I don't find it as bad as when I first watched it years ago. It's season 2 and 3 that I really can't get into that much and season 2 is coming next.
On that note, when I rewatched Rogue One a few weeks ago after finishing Andor, I got to say, time has not been kind to Deep Fake Tarkin.I had absolutely no issues with Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One,
Sometimes all it takes is one scene.I wanted to like Season 1, and it had some great stuff at the beginning, but they lost me at ripping Icheb's eyeball out. I wanted to watch Star Trek, not Saw.
It wasn't great to start with. I get why they thought they had to do it, and they had the technology. But honestly, just have Guy Henry play Tarkin, it would have been fine.On that note, when I rewatched Rogue One a few weeks ago after finishing Andor, I got to say, time has not been kind to Deep Fake Tarkin.
Wars has mostly gotten it right too. They've recast far more often than they've recreated. But those handful of recreations have stood out, with none of them being quite there despite enormous effort. This is one of the things where I think Trek has largely got it right by recasting.
Especially since there's enough of a resemblance between him and Peter Cushing anyway. It certainly would have been less distracting. But honestly, just have Guy Henry play Tarkin, it would have been fine.
