Picard if he were alive today.

Given Picard's life in the federation, his job/s and his interests what occupation and life would Jean-Luc Picard live if he were alive in 2023? What kind of person would he be? Where would you find him working? Personally I think he would either be an archaeologist or a college professor, but I would be interested in any ideas you guys have.

Thanks for Reading.

A rally driver/special forces guy with a big gun.

That would be Movie Picard.

And I suspect that if Series Picard and Movie Picard ever met, they wouldn't be each others type :)

That said, archaeology is alive and well in the 24th century, and Picard could have chosen to go into that field. However, the lure of space exploration was still stronger.

So, if he were alive today, I would expect him to go for a relatively 'adventurous' job that also required scholarship of some kind. I could see him be a marine biologist doing field research in the arctic regions, for example. Or becoming a scientist-astronaut. Or some such thing.

Movie Picard is just "Starship Mine" on steroids. It's the same guy let loose. He'd be John McClane or Jonathan Rambo. He could do Picard speeches with some witty rejoinder and then shoot the villains in the neck.

Disgruntled for decades that ESA cancelled the Hermes shuttle. Did a stint on ISS, briefly involved in helping migrants at sea, finally retired. Wrote a cookbook nobody read, and died relatively content. .

Picard wasn’t born as a good and caring individual, the TNG Picard was eventually shaped by the ideas of Starfleet. According to the Q flashback episode, he was short-tempered and kind of a dick during his academy years. Also his mother committed suicide, he never got along with his Dad.
In this world, he might have ended up as a drug addict or (given his sharp mind) as a not too compassionate CEO.

Star Trek is based on a different kind of humanity, our society doesn’t care about personal burdens. A 2023 Picard probably wouldn’t have gotten the chance to grow into a wise, cultured philanthropist.

So you believe he would probably be an ordinary person? Maybe slightly wiser than normal?

He wouldn’t be ordinary since he was born with an incredibly bright mind. Wisdom however can’t be inherited, you will have to aquire it. In order to aquire wisdom, society needs to give you a proper chance.

Look at Shinzon, he was Picards clone and he became a mass murdering super villain, mainly due to his social imprint..

Obviously you are not one of them…
You lose a certain verbosity when the machine isn't writing for you. But your minimalist version of "I know you are but what am I" does seem to be written by you and not your social media manager. You don't get to be a dishonest charlatan and brush it off like dandruff, by the way, stupes. As for whether I've had personal burdens, yes, but they're, you know, personal. Outside the scope of all this.

Back to the topic, the closest thing would have to a JLP, is the real Piccard, Auguste.

@XCV330 im not going to continue this kind of conversation. If you are still angry with me, so be it, but let's not derail another topic only because you feel obligated to punch me through all sections of this message board.

As for Auguste / Jean Felix Piccard, he was the inspiration for the character. OP didn’t ask for people who are similar to Picard but what he would’ve become if he’d lived in our time. All i am saying is, that predictions are hard, especially because Star Trek’s morale is usually based on acquired features than on inherited ones. Hence the nod to Shinzon…

The fictional character of JLP is based on personal and academic events which should be taken into account. If Picard wouldn’t live in the 24th century he would most likely have a different character.
