I'm not upset about profanity in Trek. Though selective use makes it stand out more (the scene being important for some reason) versus characters dropping it every other word. I'm simply used to it being sporadically used.

Actually, slasher movies are almost entirely morality plays. It’s just that the morality they espouse is punishing sluts with death. Ever notice how the survivors (like Laurie Strode in Halloween) are always virgins? And the slasher’s victims aren’t? That’s not accidental.
Yes, I have noticed. Same with Friday the 13th. Now John Carpenter denies this was a conscious decision on his part when he wrote Halloween. But there's a definite pattern.
And sometimes you root for someone to get taken out. I'll never forget in Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan there was this one chick who was a real creep, pushing our girl-hero off the ship knowing she couldn't swim, among other creepy things she did. I was glad Jason got her. She was a mean girl.
I don't think they're morality tales the Catholic Church would approve of, but yes, it always seems final girl is the 'good' girl of the bunch. If you're lucky maybe a 'good' guy survives as well. Kind of like how you can't kill children and puppies in slasher films. You can't kill the 'good' girl of the movie
Slasher films have other clichés too, such as odious comic relief guy. That guys always a goner. Immortal killers don't like funny guys.
Not too sure although I would like to see Captain Worf with the Enterprise
I think I'm more interested in the fallout from the Mars attack and the Romulan collapse. Between TNG, DS9, the movies, and the novels, I've had enough Worf to last me a lifetime. I like the character, but I'm not sure how many more ways he can growl about honor.
Full disclosure I haven't even gotten onto TNG yet, honestly I've been reading novels with memory beta open next to me so I'm still quite new to this cast, I think I've watched some TNG like measure of a man and I know lots of the plot beats but yeah, only watched TOS and Picard
Michael Dorn ends up appearing as Worf in roughly 275 episodes of Trek and four of the feature films.
Figures the exhaustion then, honestly I'm only at the beginning of part 2 and there are so many interesting subplots, Raffi is great and the romance/friendship between Maddox and Jurati has been interesting to read, I hope that there is a line of Picard novels as its got off to a great start with this one.
Nothing's been announced, but I'm sure there will be more and not just season set-ups. Without getting into specific story ideas, some things from just these four episodes that could be expanded on in novels are Rios's backstory and Seven of Nine's since Voyager ended.
My review copy arrived yesterday afternoon. I normally get them 2-3 weeks AHEAD of publication date, not 3 days after. Grr. I read it and took notes on it last night, staying up an hour later than normal.
Happily, I was eager to read this one as I like the show (much to my surprise as I'm more of a TOS-'Niner type person).
I loved the book. But I dislike Agnes Jurati even more than I do on the show. As for Maddox? Same.
And as much as I love my Rommies, when you're in the position of needing help, you don't make demands. Dumbasses. Pride is great until the sun swallows you up. Oh wait, that's only for the little people...

I think a lot of what we could potentially get will depend on how in depth they plan on going with that kind of stuff.
