PIC S3 Ships & Tech

Given how small it is, the Shield Ball looks about the size of a tennis ball; I wonder how strong are the Personal Shields, how long can it last and what are it's limits =D.

Well since no one fired at the personal shield it was probably considered outside of the capabilities of 2 phasers to defeat it.

For Starfleet personnel, none. though Vice Admiral Leyton mentioned personal force fields in the DS9 episode "Homefront". At a push there's also the one that Worf made in "A Fistful of Datas" too.

Quick additional notes:

- Worf and Raffi return to the show in a cloaked Starfleet shuttle. More evidence that the assorted treaties with the Romulans are no longer in effect. Is this the first time we've seen a shuttle-sized, cloaked ship from the AQ powers in this era of the show?

- My guess is that the shuttle Emmerson is Worf's ride, which explains how he's getting around and maybe the cloak too. La Sirena is still on Pr'duser Prime, with parking tickets stuffed into the windshield. Riker appears back on the Titan also wielding what looks to be a dolphin phaser, possibly cribbed from Worf's spec ops collection.

- Figment of Data's memories or not, Yar's holo d12 was never standing arms akimbo like that. I wonder what kind of CG trickery was used to recreate the image.

- This is the first time we've seen a bridge "evacuation hatch" of any kind in use since the USS Tsiolkovsky was decompressed by a bunch of unintentionally drunken party animals. In this case it's a literal opening of the front viewer followed by the deactivation of a forcefield.

- So Vadic and co. couldn't morph into a spaceborne lifeform like Laas did? Too shocked by the f-ing solids to think about that?

- Firing "everything we've got" still amounts to a handful of very slow torpedoes. Maybe they still don't "got" phasers back yet.

- Captain Worf is now canon! In the books he was established as a Captain of the Enterprise-E. I wonder if that was a tie-in one way or another.

Perhaps that element injected into Vadic also makes a changeling vulnerable to space?

And the "everything we've got" is always 4 torpedoes? :)

Didn't the Titan-A itself cloak up towards the end?

Yep the Titan cloaked at the end. I wonder though if Worf's cloaked small ship was using the same cloaking device stolen from the Bounty and when they returned to the Titan transferred the cloaking device back to the Titan. The reason is if Worf's ship already had a cloaking device they could've gone to Daystrom cloaked to start with.

Good point and this makes sense.

Speaking of, Worf has indeed returned to his gold departmental colours, making him the first captain to be wearing gold (not counting Scotty). Geordi is only the second flag officer seen wearing gold after Admiral Toddman on DS9 (and again excerpting assorted redshirted Commodores in TOS). Is gold in this era appropriate to folks in special ops? Does this mean Worf had an inactive Starfleet commission and has been put back on the roster, however unofficially as the Titan crew are still fugitives? And what does this mean if nuData is wearing the awesomely cool leather jacket but not a rank of his predecessor, if ranks mean nothing to this A-team of Starfleet’s finest?

They're contracted on special assignment, reactivated at previous rank so as to be placed in the chain of command, receive orders and give orders legally.

BQ, the Romulan shuttle Vreenak used

Troi had a dolphin on the Shrike as well

The Bounty had an evacuation hatch on the side in TVH

Yeah but that was an actual manual hatch you had to open like a watertight door on a ship.

The Oberth and Titan have the remote activated death door

Good observations. In her persona as "Commodore Oh", the General Nedar wore operations gold as flag officer. Do commodores count as flag officers?

I'm glad Worf is a captain, I missed that element and him wearing gold in the ep. Funnily enough, when La Forge succeeds Scotty as captain of the USS Challenger in 2383 in the First Splinter timeline, he wears gold with captain's pips at least once. In the same timeline, Captain Sonya Gomez commands both her ship and its SCE team, and explicitly wears ops gold with captain's pips.

Also non-canon, there's Captain Thaddius Deming of the USS Premonition in Star Trek: Armada.
