Phinias and Pherb..I like it

I have been watching this show with my six year old son, and I have decided; I like this show. If you havent seen it yet, here is my attempt to explain what it is about.

Phineas and Pherp are brothers, I think one is adopted. During summer vacation, each year, they decided to do crazy things. Like build Rocket ships to the moon, time machines, wierd stuff like that. Their older sister Candice, a typical crazy teenager, catches them building these strange things every episode, and tries to show it all to their mom; but before the mom finds out, everything is 'cleaned up' and, well, Candice looks like a nut.

They also have a pet platypus who is actually a spy like James Bond, but no one knows this; he's that secret about it.

Its a fun show and has ofted had my son asking me things like ..." gee dad, could we build a time machine? Or, once he asked me, if they went back in time and stopped the asteroid from hitting the Earth, wouldn't there still be dinosaurs? Wouldn't the timeline be changed. (Star Trek is a must in my house)

Phineas and Pherb; great show with 'educational' value too...

It's really a funny show.

I love the way it shifts plot focus with Secret Agent Perry The Platypus & Doofensmirtz.

Kind of like the cartoon 'Heathcliff' was able to do with the Junkyard Cats, or 'Garfield' was able to do with U.S. Acres

I also love the confidence with which the two brothers get into action.

Quotes:
Random Authority figure: "Aren't you kids a little young to be NASA Engineers?

Phineas (as he continues working on the rocket): Yes. yes we are.

This is a classy cartoon. One of the rare ones that have managed to be popular without resorting to lowering their standards and using gross physical humor to get the kids to watch.

I love so much about it. Phineas and Ferb handle the bully in hilarious fashion. They are intelligent and witty, and the creators slip in clever lines that I laugh about all day.

The songs are fun, and I like the little theme songs each character gets. (♪♪Doofensmirtz Evil Incorporated♪♪)

I also enjoy the way they have two or more story lines going each episode.

Some of the fun lines...
"Perry the Platypus?! I swear of all the aquatic mammals I hang with you are the most uncooperative!" Doofensmirtz

Candace, "That doesn't make any sense!" Doofensmirtz, "It doesn't have to, I own a Monster Truck!"

Ferb, "In retrospect, I question the inclusion of a self destruct button in the first place."

Isabella, "Whatcha doin'?"
Phineas, "Fixing a time machine.
Isabella, "Isn't that kind of impossible?"
Phineas, "That's a possibility."

Baljeet, "I do not even know how to act in front of a girl! I do not even know what girls like!"
Phineas, "Hmmm... Isn't it like, sugar and spice, and everything nice?"
Baljeet, "That is what they are made of! I do not want to build one! Duh!"

It is like a sci-fi, Danger Mouse and Schoolhouse Rock all rolled into one.

This is a really cool show - not only for the sharp writing and funny plots, but the songs too. They've covered nearly every musical genre, from hillbilly bluegrass to show tunes to digital dancehall. I particularily love songs involving Vanessa, her V.A. is a fantastic singer.

And I'm amazed at how they've created a character who actually makes Dr. Drakken from Kim Possible look like a competant mad scientist.

Around my home we throw "...inator" at the end of a word whenever we wish we had his inventive prowess.

"What we need now is a spill-removinator!"

"I wish I had a traffic dispers-inator!"

I'm suddenly finding myself interested in acquiring this whole show on DVD.

That reminds me... Where are my Kim Possible - Complete Series DVDs?

And while we're on the subject Disney... Gargoyles - Season 2: Part II better get put out at some point.

Phineas and Ferb is a great show!

It has such a great spirit.

My seven year old son enjoys my Dr. Doofenshmirtz impressions.

"I'll get you, Perry the Platypus!"

The show is the work of two ex-Family Guy alumnus, who decided to prove that the best of the humor was derived not from shock, but from timing.

BTW, am I the only one who notes that there is no way that there are '104 days in summer vacation', at least in most places where it applies?

"I used to have goals. They were evil goals..."

"To add insult to injury, the platypus is leading."

Plus, the show has like a ton of sneaky innuendo :

"Thanks, Phineas. But that wasn't my first rainbow."

My kids, wife and I all love this show! It is by far the best thing on Disney Channel. It reminds me of the way quality family programming used to be: something for all ages to enjoy with a lot of heart. We are also huge fans of "Kim Possible" as well and lament that the entire series is not available on DVD.

But of COURSE, ANYTHING related to the evil Hannah Montana is out there - season one, etc.

Well, at least there is one great show on that channel. I do have to say Jonas isn't terrible and Sunny With A Chance is ok. At least the characters are likeable. Disney has overdosed in the past few years with obnoxious lead characters in their live action shows:

"That's So Raven"
"Cory In The House"
"Hannah Montana"
"Wizards Of Waverly Place"

It's nice to see a few shows where you don't want to throw something at the screen, LOL!

The first season of KP has been released, but only in Germany for some reason. There isn't much indication of any more on the way any time soon.

I agree that Disney's animated output is by far the best thing they've had in the last few years, but it also sadly receives the least attention. Oh well, in twenty years we'll see what stands up best!

She maybe oxposed, but the girl on WIZARDS? He is smoking hot! Okay, way too young for me, but you know what I mean. The show is kind of stupid, I agree.

What about the Suite life? That show is way over-exposed.

My nephew is the same age as Selena Gomez and wants to marry her. She is cute but old enough to be my daughter. However, her wise-ass character gets on my nerves. EXTREMELY poor, cliched writing, right down to the idiot father character straight out of 1980s sitcoms. However, the mom is SMOKING hot!

Yes and both counts. The mom is hot. But Selena has a career ahead of her; or maybe a MAXIM spread!!!

Good point and more funny quotes. I especially like Ferb's cute little noises...

"Candace: There you are! I order you to get out there and build a fort!
Phineas
: But Candace, I thought you wanted us to take the day off and not annoy you!
Candace: Those kids next door are building a fort, and I WILL be annoyed if theirs is better than yours.
Phineas: Candace, we don't do this to compete. We do it for fun.
Ferb: And for the ladies....*sexy grroowl*

Isabella: Did you hear that? Aunt Isabella! That means I'm gonna marry Phineas!
Candace: Or Ferb.
Ferb turns around and makes fake guns with his fingers along with a cocky clicking noise and winking.

They jumped the shark way before they moved to the cruise ship.

Say it again, Brother! Their Mom is like an American version of Love Hina's Kitsune--and I don't just mean in looks, I mean in personality, one that never appealed to me. Let it sail back to the Atlantic of 1942---aaahh, UnterseeBoats. :D

BTW, one of my fave sites, www.tvtropes.org, has a P&H listing, and includes a partial list of innuendo :

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PhineasAndFerb

although they call it 'Getting C**p Past The Radar'

The mom on "Suite Life" changed her hair every couple weeks and although in "real life" she did have a child during the original show's run, her weight went up and down throughout the show's run. She could look hot or downright nasty depending on her look and never dazzled anyone with her acting. Granted, the scripts for that show are poor (both original series and cruise ship version). I also don't like the fact that she and her ex-husband come off as total losers on both shows.

They ran out of ideas quickly, so they moved the show to the cruise ship (which makes NO sense, BTW) to play out basically the same scripts on different sets. No one on that show however totally annoys me, so to me it's more cookie cutter Disney "It's A Laugh" production stuff. It's just there.

"Cory In The House" thankfully died a quick death. That show was the sequel to "That's So Raven." If my kids behaved like Raven and Cory, I'd be in the funny farm. The mom was the only strong, intelligent adult character on the show and they dumped her after maybe the first or second season of "Raven," so you had yet another village idiot as the token adult, the father character of Victor.

All the adults on "Cory" were portrayed as morons and the foreign girl he lusted after (a horrible actress) dropped her accent half the time. Disney is relying too much on the obnoxious, hustler kid who is always scamming his/her moron parents, learns a lesson and the next episode the lesson is reset and they try a new con. That's just lazy, but it's made Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus millionaires.

I watch it with my kids. Pretty good stuff compared to other kids shows.

The one where they get "busted" by the Candace from the future leading to the alterate future was really pretty sophisticated for a kids show.
Not surpised to see the creators had a family guy connecton:techman:

That was a great one! My only complaint with the series is not enough new eps! That's the mark of a great show! :bolian:
