Anyway, this is a pretty big satire fail. It manages to simultaneously be a nerd stereotype and attack nerd strawmen.
Why is it every time something people are excited about is announced on the internet, as soon as people naturally start to express any small reservations, some obnoxious troll comes along and makes an 'OMIGOSH IM SO CLEVER' parody post like everybody who isn't unreservedly gushing it is just an unsatisfiable complainer?
Yeah, honestly, what I've seen on this forum over the last 4 days has made me feel pretty weary - TrekBBS is one of the largest places of Star Trek discussion - by now, Star Wars fans would be picking apart every little fascinating bit of continuity - tiny hints - instead here the reaction has been both suprisingly muted, as if nobody, in the heart of Trek fandom cares that much, and also very negative.
I admit, I have my worries, but it's time to get into gear like the fans of the best damn TV franchise we are, and act like true geeks.

Agreed.
Researcher: "The average radio listener listens for eighteen minutes. The average Howard Stern fan listens for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes."
Pig Vomit: "How can that be?"
Researcher: "Answer most commonly given? 'I want to see what he'll say next.'"
Pig Vomit: "Okay, fine. But what about the people who hate Stern?"
Researcher: "Good point. The average Stern hater listens for two and a half hours a day."
Pig Vomit: "But... if they hate him, why do they listen?"
Researcher: "Most common answer? 'I want to see what he'll say next.'"
