Patrick Stewart voice

I definitely noticed it in NEMESIS.

Another change in his voice actually accrued much earlier, though I may put that to Stewart's acting. In the first season of TNG there's something about his line delivery that's very different. More stern and curt. By the second season his voice started to sound more relaxed, which I suppose was around the time Stewart was loosening up. He talked about how during the first season he didn't take a residency in LA for a year, instead staying at a hotel because he was told to expect TNG to be a one season show. He was also serious on set and didn't take to goofing off like his cast. You can see on bloopers by the second season he was taking the job less seriously. Those bloopers are GOLD.

Loosening up in not only posture and attitude but also with the voice was probably done deliberately on Sir Patrick's part, yes. He became more relaxed and also injected more of his own personality into Jean-Luc (it was him who demanded for Jean-Luc to loosen up even more at the end of the second season, after all). It's a graduate change, which is a testimony to his acting skills. :)

To be honest I feel like Stewart is making himself sound a lot more decrepit. He sounds so spry and not much different from his TNG days in this interview for example.

Yeah..I think at least a big part of the different sound is acting.

I am caught in two minds, his voice is generally, definitely weaker. However is portraying someone who is about 94/95 of age in PIC, so this may be part of the reason too

IDK, his voice is still cracking in the "flashback" scenes which are 20+ years prior, so I don't think it's a deliberate choice. I miss his younger voice, but so glad he's still around to make Picard!

I'm also happy that they don't do much (any?) de-aging special effects though. It's never convincing, and just ends up being distracting.
