Still in all, I'm very pleased that Sir Patrick Stewart chanced upon being cast as Captain Jean-Luc Picard. He's a fine actor, the best that ever graced the STAR TREK franchise and the only one, probably, who could've led STAR TREK away from TOS, in The Public's Eye. It does bother me ... quite a bit ... that Stewart's being English eventually dominated and ruined any chance of Picard's French roots taking true hold. In Season One, Picard had a couple of occasions to speak in French and seemed to enjoy the opportunity. But for TNG to eventually pretend that the French accent -- the sexiest of ALL accents -- would become extinct in favour of Queen's English in the 24th Century was a serious misstep. An actor with a real French accent would not have brought down the series down, as some fans seem to suggest. When Eva Green speaks English, for example ... the language has never sounded so alluring!
