Who'd win in a fight? Wile watching, 'Futures End' I noticed Paris standing next to Chakotay and Paris was wearing a wife beater and he made Chakotay look very frail next to him. There is one scene where Paris easily knocks Chakotay to the ground on the bridge. I used to think Chakotay was a badass but, I don't know, maybe even Janeway could kick his butt.

I think Paris could take him. He's smaller, quicker, and was in better shape it seemed. However, if Chakotay managed to land a punch or grab him it would probably be all over for Paris.

Paris took Chakotay by surprise -- it undoubtedly never occurred to him that Paris would actually take a shot at him -- and it looked to me as if the only reason Chakotay didn't retaliate was that Janeway stopped him. If it came down to a real brawl, I'll concede that Paris might get in a few good shots, but after that he'd best just do what he can to stay out of reach!

Chak has a boxer's training, and extremely powerful shoulders. My credits are on the "Maquis Mauler."

Whats thier real stats?
Dunno about the weights. Heightwise, IIRC, Robbie McNeill is about 6'4" and Robert Beltran is a shade over 6' even. Despite the episode you cited -- in which Paris was certainly dressed to best advantage, while Chakotay was just as certainly not -- Beltran generally looks solider, though. And I still maintain that someone who's specifically trained to fight hand-to-hand has the edge over someone who (from what we've seen) is more of a street brawler.

Beltran generally looks solider, though.

It's that square build--solid from shoulders to hips. Hubby says "it's a Hispanic thing" as he has the same solid build and same height.

Add their broad shoulders and they're both perceived as taller, broader, and overall more physically imposing than they actually are.

Kinda cool.

Toilet Paper would be making his lame wisecracks through a mouth full of busted teeth.

Although they are both attractive, I'd take Chakotay over Paris anyday! DAMN, he's FINE!!! And I'd like to see that Angry Warrior come out and beat the crap outta Paris..ONE TIME. :) Those leather pants he wore in Caretaker weren't that bad to look at either. I'm thinking that Chakotay would win a fight over Paris in the bridge cause he's higher rank. :D He can sure throw a mean left jab! :)

Yeah, it is kinda cool.

And you know, it's funny but I can't even count the number of fics and episode reviews I've read where Chakotay is described as being taller and just generally bigger than Paris. Which he isn't! Solider, yeah, and I certainly agree with your comments about the square build (hasn't thought of it that way, but it's true). Bigger? Well, no!

It would be a good fight, but my money's on Chakotay. Paris would land some good shots, but once the Maquis Mauler gets done, Paris would have his own tatoos, albeit black and blue, on his mug! However, I did vote that Janeway would stop the fight by just yelling, "You are NOT in CONTROL HERE!" -- RR

Oh, I never said who I thought would win.

Chak, in the first round. He's got more muscle behind his hits than Tom and he's had better training to inflict greater damage with each hit.

Chakotay.

In Harry Kim's Non Sequitur, Harry easily controlled Tom in a bar; albeit a parallel wasted life Tom.

But in the current universe, I still say Chakotay. Tom may have sucker punched him, but remember striking a fellow officer is a court-martial offense, which may have made Chakotay and most other officers never anticipate that behavior.

If Chakotay was truly a boxer, then my money would be on him.

Paris has some mean guns though, and his reach would be a lot more...He's a scrapper, and Chakotay would be scared to upset Janeway (Paris being Janeway's boy toy and all) methinks he wouldn't even fight...And didn't Paris hold his own in that Kling-on pugil bought? He's got heart.

Chakotay was ready to drop Paris on the floor in "Prototype". Did anyone else notice how pissed he was when Paris offered to resuce Torres in one of the shuttles. Something along the lines of "Plan on loosing another shuttle Paris?"

I smelled a can of Chakotay Woop-Ass getting opened.
