Probably not - there is more money in ignoring real Trek, and just skimming the edges with the shiny things associated with Trek. Can you imagine today's generation sitting through a Picard speech? They would be looking at their phone 2 minutes in and waiting for the next explosion.
But hey - one can dream..
Funny, here's me, 34 years old, knowing several 20-25 year old Star Trek fans that LOVE all of Star Trek, not just the 'shiny' new stuff......![]()

I'm 28 but, yeah, love the old and the new. I prefer the TOS and TOS movies, but the new stuff is great too.Funny, here's me, 34 years old, knowing several 20-25 year old Star Trek fans that LOVE all of Star Trek, not just the 'shiny' new stuff......![]()
Mayhaps ST4 they realign the stars, Temporal Agents prevent Nero from his idiocy, and perhaps, even getting Spock to the rescue of Romulus in time..
Then balance is restored.. they can still use the flashy new stuff and new actors... Maybe more Klingons (less piercings) and such..
Personally I think you cannot have one without the other... Picard, granted - was rigid (even in fights I thought he would never bend at any point - outstanding posture) however he did kick proverbial ass in many instances.. Perhaps in a recast TNG Picard will still have his speeches, but not be telephone pole straight.
That being said - Kirk was the cowboy of ST... That is without question.
I bet they're just doing an interview or ama or special feature or something.
Naaah this feels very teaser-y. With the Bad Robot guy on their desk and everything. They know what posting this picture makes people think.I bet they're just doing an interview or ama or special feature or something.

One can certainly hope so anyway. Seriously, their script was rejected last time, why were they the first choice for this one?Interesting - perhaps Payne & McKay are no longer writing it?

Yeah they could but they're not going to do that, because the franchise has goodwill and a fanbase, so anything that could seriously damage that goodwill ultimately isn't good for their profit margin. And while Paramount and CBS do care primarily about profit and their investors, they hire talented people who care about the franchise to run it. CBS hired Bryan Fuller, Nicholas Meyer and Kirstin Beyer to work on Discovery. Paramount picked Simon Pegg to replace Orci on writing Beyond, when they could have picked someone who doesn't know anything about Trek. All super talented people who care about Star Trek. There's lots to be cynical about with respect to the movie and tv industry. But it's not all moneybags and bottom lines. The people actually doing the creating, at least in Star Trek's case, more often than not care about the material.
I believe the creator of the STWOK was not a Trekophile - Harve Meyer? And this movie is considered one of the best, if not THE best Trek film.
