Paramount apparently still doesn't get it...

So you’re saying it’s Star Trek?

No, even the 24th century illustrated technological advancements that continued to evolve over time... however, the 32nd century mainly didn't change that much sans for personal transporters (which aren't even TW based) and programmable matter (both of which would have been viable for widespread implementation by the mid 25th century given the tech SF already had in the late 24th).

The differences are superficial. Predicting the rate of advance for fictional technology in a fictional world is a fool's errand. It will advance as the writers want.

Actually, its fairly easy to predict how it could advance. The stage was already set... all it takes is extrapolating the tech on a larger scale and how it would be used widely... its not that difficult ad scifi writers have done this before... so its a bit sad to see Trek not changing things much or at all.

As you said, that's not how it works on Star Trek. Trek's not overly concerned with tech.

The thing about trying to predict future technology, particularly of stuff that is nowhere within our capabilities yet, is that the further ahead you try to go, the technology will appear almost magical. Then it moves a bit closer to science fantasy than science fiction, despite Clarke's Law.

I binged watch School Spirits over two days. I gave up on Wolf Pack half way through the pilot. Teen Wolf is so much better.

They get it. But they're going to fail some too.

Plus, it’s readily apparent that Trek technology plateaus for a long period of time and then you just evolve into energy beings.

The Dominion was supposed to be 1800 years older than the Federation (over twice Disco’s jump), so they should have been so super-advanced as to be untouchable. It should also be noted that they were masters of genetic engineering, something that was essentially illegal in the Federation. If technology didn’t plateau they should have been able to find the cure for Section 31’s virus within about two weeks, because they had way more knowledge of the science and their own physiology.
