That's what I said. "We're down two". DSC and PIC are the ones ending. PIC this year, DSC next.I thought PIC was done after this season?

The press release for the show also mentioned that Starfleet Academy has reopened "for the first time in over a century" which was interpreted by many to 32nd century. This combined with Matalas's comment about it being in the Disco era make it pretty clear it's supposed to be in the 32nd century.Hmmm but that's kinda ambiguous then, could be the Disco era of the earlier seasons, or those of the later seasons...
If the writers don't go on strike. The Academy series was already green-lit before the streaming numbers came in for the 3rd season. They'll likely do a Legacy series. The sad part is that it might not come out until 2025.
Not sure how accurate that was. While a 6th season was always possible, the damage to the network and filming schedules caused by COVID and to the 4th season - which definitely could have been trimmed down one or two episodes - meant that wrapping it up in S5 was the smarter choice. Cost always plays a role but I don't think it was the final or biggest piece of the puzzle.DSC was cancelled because it was too expensive, and if you cut too much down, it wouldn't really be Discovery anymore.
Imagine if they flipped the digits around 24th or 25th century to 42nd or 52nd century.Funny enough, I always suspected the writers of DISCO chose the 32nd century by simply flipping 23rd. Even though the same effect of everything could have been done anytime after PICARD's era... could easily have been the 26th, 27th, etc.
"Tighter spandex and smaller tricorders."Imagine if they flipped the digits around 24th or 25th century to 42nd or 52nd century.
Imagine what UFP would look like then =D

I consider the DISCOVERY future to be horrible and unwatchable, so this is the perspective of a "hater"... but, my conspiracy theory / educated guess is they picked the date based off the furthest VGR with "Relativity" and ENT with Daniels had already established about the far future just to be clear of all us canon-violation nitpickers, and have a truly free hand to play around with.Funny enough, I always suspected the writers of DISCO chose the 32nd century by simply flipping 23rd. Agreed.Nice. I hope Tilly will have a role in it.
Unfortunately, they never will.and have a truly free hand to play around with.

Shows how little imagination Rick Berman had."Tighter spandex and smaller tricorders."
Gul Madred said so,Sorry if I missed something, but why do we think there are 5 slots? Can Paramount still afford that many?
If the writers don't go on strike.
I would suggest that the producers already have a rough outline of the new series, main characters overall mission etc. I doubt they have more than 1 episode fully scripted, and with a potential months long strike in the works I could see a release date being pushed into 2026.
Biggest issue is where to film. Would any of the legacy cast be willing to relocate to Toronto for multiple seasons of TV?
Which I imagine shouldn't be an issue so long as they don't blow the budget on bringing back an entire cast from a previous show and the construction of a certain set.Biggest issue is making sure they put light bulbs in the budget.
Yes please. I can handle thematically dark material, but I can't stand watching a show in which I can literally not see what is going on!Biggest issue is making sure they put light bulbs in the budget.

So you’re saying it’s Star Trek?Given the state of things in the 32nd century? My guess is it would have been the same with virtually little to no actual advancement.
