Everything you've said is true. And in light of recent events, we've taken steps to ensure we aren't conflicting with the Star Trek branding in any way. For instance, we've already revised our logos and many of our materials to remove any Star Trek branding whatsoever. The Trekyards video was made before the lawsuit news, so it still has the old logo with the subtitle. Subsequent materials show that we've since taken that out.I hope so too, but I think he will be ok. This is done on a very low budget, he is not paying himself, and although it’s a Star Trek story it’s completely original in terms of the ship designs, characters, uniforms, story, etc). Its originality is what attracts me to this project. However I would advice that he changes the logo from ‘Pacific 201, a Star Trek film’ to ‘Pacific 201, a Star Trek fan film.’
And of course, our website has always stated very clearly (in huge lettering) that Pacific 201 is a fan film. Considering that almost all other more high-budget and high-profile fan productions use Star Trek characters and branding freely, Pacific 201 shouldn't come under too much scrutiny.
