Willsbabe I think the combination of the two theories would be more accurate. Of all the places that would have provided settings where these scenes would have worked, they were the cheapest sets.

Okay, I rarely venture into a P/C thread, but I just saw "Attached" and I seem to recall that this episode attracts some criticism. Bev discovers that Picard has always loved her, and this is a huge revelation. They share some wonderful things around a campfire, and then when it's time to go to sleep, they don't have sex -- which is NOT the outcome with Picard and Vash a few season earlier. It's almost as if Picard has too much respect for his friendship with Bev to make any sexual advances. Odd that he would sleep with a perfect stranger (Vash) but not the love of his life (Bev).

Okay, I've said enough. You may go back to discussing "Ring around the rosy"!!

Also -- do you think Picard being best friend's with Bev's dead husband has anything to do with his decision to remain "platonic" with her?

I think there was also the aspect of the lesson in "Lessons" as much as the respect and friendship and Jack stuff.

To love the other is to risk losing the other. To stay friends is to have a relationship that will last for the rest of their lives. In a way, Picard and Crusher can't say that they love each other simply because they do.

Quick question: Did jack actually go boom, or did I get that from too many fan fics? I thought something exploded and killed him, but left his face basically intact for the scene in "Violations."

I think too many fanfics. Jack's death has many conflicting descriptions. MJF has a pocket of energy in a nacelle kill him...and that's all I remember.

Well, blame the script editors, since the original script DID have that going.
