Outlander

trekkier

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Hey, i just watched this movie! Thought it was a cool monster-viking story haha anybody else seen it yet?

no, but others have. Search "Outlander" in the SF&F forum and you'll find a thread from a month or more back. ;)

I saw it. I was really excited to see it and waited a long time. I was disappointed. I was hoping for a bit better. Ron Pearlman's part was pretty small. I did enjoy his double hammer head shot. I always wanted to see the Mighty Thor do that with Mjolnir and Beta-Ray Bill's hammer, Stormbringer.

I was disappointed that Caviezal lost his ray gun immediately. I would consider it substandard by normal movie standards, but the ultimate epic by SyFy channel standards.

Wow, this film has taken ages to get released, I saw it last year sometime.

Good movie though, stupid but excellent :D

^ I might see that this weekend, but I really want to see Moon as well, and that may only be on for one week at my local.

I saw it... And unfortunately I was underwhelmed. I usually like Sophia Myles, but her character bugged me. And the background on the main character was a bit hamfisted. Add viking caricatures, and I understand why it went direct-to-DVD here in the states. Still, it had some good moments, just not enough of them.

I thought it was in the theater here in Missouri, but just for a week!

I was actually expecting worse than we got. It wasn't a masterpiece by any means, but it was pretty entertaining.

My dad recommended the movie to me a few months ago so I checked it out, and I enjoyed it. It had a good cast and the combination of the Caviezel's future-guy and the Viking-era was pretty cool. The ending they seemed to suggest they could make a sequel to continue Caviezel's adventures with the Vikings, but somehow I doubt that will happen.

The soundtrack for Outlander is fantastic. Since no one else had mentioned it, I thought I would. :)

I love the film. Vikings! Giant monsters! What's not to love? Oh, and Sophia Myles!

The ending they seemed to suggest they could make a sequel to continue Caviezel's adventures with the Vikings, but somehow I doubt that will happen.
A sequel would be interesting, but I doubt we'd ever see one. The film was something like 50 million to make, it sat on the shelf for two years, and then it was essentially dumped direct-to-video. It's unfortunate, because Outlander is a lot of fun.

Though I started wondering what might've happened if Outlander had had a wide theatrical release. Would there have been people who went to the film, thinking that it was an adaptation of the time-travel romance series of the same name? (Such is how I saw Ultraviolet; thinking it was a big screen adaptation of the British vampire series, I was sorely disappointed to discover that it was a overlit piece of crap.)

It was OK. A fun couple of hours but nothing too special.

I've seen it twice and I must say I liked it better the second time.

For what it was, it was well done and entertaining. Up there with Enemy Mine & Cube in terms of low budget Sci-fi.
