Out in 2011 - Star Trek: A Choice of Catastrophes

Congrats, sounds good. Next year looks very exciting with a good mix. All we need now is an announcement to say we are getting two books a month next year, and then we'll really be spoilt!

Oh, I forgot to congratulate you guys in my other post... so congrats guys!

Has there been a change in policy regarding how far in advance you guys can announce the books? I just don't remember ever hearing about this many books this far in advance before.

Not so much a policy as a habit, I think. Marco and Margaret preferred to hold off on big news until Shore Leave and then make one big presentation revealing it all. For various reasons, that's not practical this year, so the news is coming out as projects are finalized, one at a time.

Awesome! (cautiously)

Does this take place during the five-year mission?

I hope not.

That show is TERRIBLE.

^ Yep, 5YM, and intended to be as stand-alone as possible.

The plot centers around the discovery of a new substance called handwavium, which is responsible for all the inaccuracies and errors you see on the show. (Yes, including James "R." Kirk.)

Or maybe not. We haven't decided yet.

:lol::lol:

So, we're making up for the lack of stories this summer by getting a very interesting collection of books next year. Great! :)

Steve Mollmann and I will be writing A Choice of Catastrophes, out later in 2011.
Yay! Congrats. :)

This should please the posters in the recent "we need more in-the-series novels" thread, and it might even please the folks in the "what are the novels about Dr. McCoy?" thread.
Super. Now we just need to appease the Janeway fans, and we'll have world peace by Christmas.

I heart you.

I have to ask: Was this novel concieved as a TOS book, or is it a repurposed nuTrek story?

Also: I'd love references to Gold Key Trek comics, told in totally random Family Guy-style flashbacks!

"Remember that time Mr. Spock's head was enlarged to fit the sum total of some alien culture's knowledge?"

Try to work in the Book-and-Record Green Wizard Romulans too! :rommie:

Yes.

The original short pitch was designed to work for both timelines, if I recall correctly (it's been some time, after all), but it was decided pretty early on that this would be a TOS story.
