Next year's schedule is already promising to be a great year for Trek books. Let's hope this announcement doesn't change that...

Steve Mollmann and I will be writing A Choice of Catastrophes, out later in 2011. It is a TOS novel, with lots of McCoy goodness and an equal focus on the other main characters as well as a select number of minor characters, both from the TV series and original creations.

It will feature a strange new alien race, a survey mission gone awry, a dangerous space phenomenon, doctors, nurses, Scottish curses, a specific number of Enterprise shuttles, and Kirk's flying wig.

On second thought, probably not the wig. (It really deserves a novel of its own.)

Anyroad. The beans have been spilled, and we hope you like them.

Sweet. Is this your first full-length novel?

A new TOS novel good I've been hoping to read more Tos novels. It's nice to know we'll be getting a new McCoy novel next year.:)

Indeed it is. (Though The Tears of Eridanus, out later this year, comes strikingly close.)

I'm pretty jazzed about this, as McCoy has long been one of my favorite TOS characters, and of course it'll be a treat to write the rest of the classic crew as well.

This should please the posters in the recent "we need more in-the-series novels" thread, and it might even please the folks in the "what are the novels about Dr. McCoy?" thread.

Congrats to you both, every new TOS-novel (Set in the original timeline) is reason to celebrate :)
BTW, I really like this new kind of PR for the Trek-books, small but frequent updates, instead of months without anything new at all. This way, we already know about 9 out of 12 of the MMPB for 2011.

Well, it's hardly our first venture into Star Trek literature-- we've done two short stories, a novella, and a short novel. But thanks, all!

Our first was S.C.E.: The Future Begins, which will see paperback reprint this summer in Corps of Engineers: What's Past.

There were also two short stories in The Next Generation: The Sky's the Limit, and a short novel in this November's Myriad Universes: Shattered Light.

    Congratulations to both of you!!

It's cool to watch as a sense of the literature landscape for 2011 starts to take form...plenty of stuff in there already that's right up my alley. :)
