"Our mission is to go forward."

Although it's a pretty mediocre episode, I love the final moments of "The Neutral Zone." Riker makes some comment about visiting the past, and Picard replies, "That would take us in the wrong direction. Our mission is go forward." Then his lines about still having much to do and learn top it all off perfectly. The thought serves to be a good end to season one and to make me smile. It's one of those lines from Star Trek that inspires me. It makes you realize life is about going forward as well.

If only the current people in charge of Star Trek would appreciate those words the same way you and I do ...

I really liked that scene too. I just always laughed at the end of it, Picard said their mission was to go forward and the next visual of the Enterprise is it making a U Turn.

Thirded. Down with prequels!

And you guys can't swipe my signature! :D :guffaw:

Prequels? Sequels? Whatever - as long as a good piece of entertainment is made, I don't mind...

I agree 100%. You also have to remember the much-hatred Star Wars prequels made a ton of $ and Trek post-TOS has a history of following Star Wars. The Motion Picture was green-lit instead of the Phase II television series because the first Star Wars film raked it in at the box office.

I'm not too thrilled with the prequel idea, since I've never watched TOS so I wouldn't know anything.
